Full Job Description
Are you a Journeyperson Machinist who takes pride in precision work, working to exact specifications, and delivering high-quality results? At SMS Equipment's Remanufacturing branch, you'll play an important role in restoring and manufacturing components that support the performance and reliability of heavy equipment. We're looking for someone who is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and committed to craftsmanship, with the technical expertise to work to close tolerances and maintain exceptional quality standards.

In this role, you'll apply your machining expertise across a variety of equipment and components, contributing to quality remanufacturing solutions while working alongside a highly skilled team in a safety-first environment.

Base Wage: $54.02 per hour. Additional premiums apply.Location: Acheson, AB.Schedule: 7x7 Rotation.

What You'll Do

  • Study specifications, drawings, charts, and sample parts to determine machining requirements.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances and prepare sketches when required.
  • Measure, mark, and machine materials to precise tolerances.
  • Set up and operate machining equipment including lathes, boring mills, milling machines, drill presses, and CNC equipment as required.
  • Perform precision machining operations and verify dimensions using precision measuring tools.
  • Fit and assemble machined components and verify proper function.
  • Interpret work orders, technical manuals, and engineering documentation.
  • Complete job-specific reports and required documentation accurately.
  • Perform quality control inspections to ensure work meets specifications and standards.
  • Support a safe work environment and work in both shop and field settings as required.


What You Bring

You bring Journeyperson Machinist certification, 3 to 5 years of related machining experience, and heavy equipment and line boring experience. Your commitment to quality workmanship and safe work practices helps ensure components are completed accurately and reliably.

  • Manual machining experience.
