Qualifications

• 2+ years of industry experience required
• Deep practical knowledge of the modern machine learning lifecycle
• Familiarity with large-scale recommender systems and A/B testing
• Experience building large-scale ML systems in production
• Strong programming skills in Python; Java/Go is a plus
• Solid understanding of data fundamentals including SQL and data pipelines
• Excellent communication skills, capable of cross-functional collaboration
• Advanced degree in a relevant field or equivalent industry experience

Responsibilities

• Contribute to building and scaling HBO Max's recommendation system for personalization
• Assist in the development of machine learning systems for personalization
• Collaborate with applied science engineers to enhance search and personalization platform quality and stability
• Drive improvements in observability, scalability, and performance of recommendation services
• Work with various teams as HBO Max expands to new global markets
• Author, test, review, and optimize production-level code
• Cultivate a culture of experimentation and data-driven innovations
• Provide front-line support for troubleshooting recommendation system issues
