Pomerleau is looking for a geotechnical engineer to join its rapidly growing Methods and Temporary Works Design team. You will be responsible for designing and managing the geotechnical components involved with temporary structures that facilitate the construction of permanent structures. In preconstruction phases as well as in execution phases.
Our Methods and Temporary Works group consists of innovative design engineers and technicians whose expertise in designing temporary works adds value to the construction team and ensures the success of Pomerleau's projects. You will be part of the larger APEX team - Alternative Projects and Technical Center of Expertise that provides technical expertise to our construction teams in Building, Civil/Infrastructure and Major Projects.
What You Will Do:
• Coordinate the delivery of specific submittals related to geotechnical engineering and science. Lead the submittal definitions, geotechnical meetings and Requests for Information. Liaise with the Client.
• Ensure compliance of specific works through regular checks, guaranteeing the quality and safety of geotechnical structures.
• Collaborate with subcontractors and specialized experts and play a critical role in the constructive evaluation of required onsite and laboratory tests.
• In addition to compliance checks, review external geotechnical designs to optimize proposed solutions in line with project requirements.
• Coordinate closely with modelers and technicians to develop accurate geotechnical models and plans for the project incorporating best practices and current technical standards.
• Provide essential technical support to the construction team, ensuring compliant installation and rigorous application of established methods.
• Act as a credible and influential technical reference for the various stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication on the technical aspects of projects.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of specifications, introducing innovative solutions and best practices to optimize processes.
This role could be for you if you have:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field. Master Degree and PhD in geotechnical engineering are strong advantages
• 10+ years of relevant work experience geotechnical design and civil construction.
• Candidates must also be familiar with Construction sites environment and e comfortable to be assigned to site offices.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license or eligibility to obtain one within Canada.
• Experience with seismic design and potential liquefaction would be an advantage.
• Strong experience working in Advance Design or other finite element software.
