Status: Full-time

Shift: Day

Pay Range*: $32.19 /hour - $46.68 /hour

Position Summary

To provide safe, cost-effective patient care through the health experience, according to established standards utilizing the nursing process, within the scope of practice of the Licensed Vocational Nurse.

The OB/GYN Clinic is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to support patient care in a fast-paced outpatient setting. This position works primarily in the back office, providing direct clinical support to providers and patients.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  1. Performs age specific competencies in an out-patient clinical setting
  2. Participates in departmental performance improvement program to maintain quality care standards
  3. Maintains competency through participating in department/hospital training programs.
  4. Prepares patients for medical examination or treatment while accurately gathering clinical data and accurately documenting in the medical record.
  5. Assists with procedures and performs tests as directed by MCWHLB faculty and resident physicians while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  6. Assists MCWHLB faculty with teaching resident physicians and medical students.
  7. Provides patient and family education as appropriate for procedures, medications, and tests.
  8. Administers medication and intravenous fluids as directed by MCWHLB faculty and resident physicians following MCWHLB policy and procedures.
  9. Prepares test results with chart for physician review daily.
  10. Completes daily QA for laboratory testing.
  11. Completes department specific jobs assigned to each individual nurse.
  12. Room patients; obtain and document vital signs, assessments, and medical histories
  13. Assist providers during exams, procedures, and treatments
  14. Administer injections, collect specimens, and perform point-of-care testing as appropriate
  15. Provide patient education related to prenatal, gynecologic, and women's health care
  16. Conduct phone triage, communicate test results, and respond to patient questions
  17. Accurately document care in the electronic medical record
  18. Stock and maintain exam rooms and clinical supplies
  19. Adhere to infection control, safety, and clinic protocols
  20. Perform other related duties as assigned


*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
