Job Description
Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Lung Transplant Surgeon with the Norton Thoracic Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, you will help patients receive life-saving lung transplant procedures and comprehensive post-operative care so they can experience improved quality of life.
In this role, you will perform complex lung transplant surgeries and contribute to the growth and excellence of the Norton Thoracic Institute. You will be expected to apply broad surgical training and expertise, potentially manage ECMO, collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, and uphold the mission and values of CommonSpirit Health.
To be successful in this role, you must possess an MD or DO degree, be eligible for Arizona medical licensure, have broad surgical training and experience in lung transplantation (ECMO desirable, new graduates considered), and align with our values for superb clinical care. We are affiliated with Creighton University School of Medicine, Phoenix Campus, and an academic appointment is available.

The Norton Thoracic Institute is a premier organization with one of the leading lung transplant programs in the country. Our group includes 7 thoracic surgeons practicing at 3 clinic locations, along with a team of renowned advanced pulmonologist, interventional pulmonologists and critical care physicians dedicated to the highest quality care of patients with complex thoracic and advanced pulmonary disease. The successful candidate will be a team player and program builder willing to develop the expanding practice growing cardiac ICU service at St. Joseph's Hospital & Medical Center.
The NTI is a division of Dignity Health/CommonSpirit Health with vibrant practices at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center (571 beds) along with Chandler Regional Medical Center (470 beds), serving all three regions of the Valley of the Sun. Both hospitals are large, not-for-profit referral centers with state of the art facilities including robotic and minimally invasive surgery, advanced endoscopy, Level 1 Trauma programs along with surgery residency training programs.
