Job Description and Requirements

You Are
You have spent time building or testing structural mechanics simulations and you understand that the difference between a solver that works and one that fails is in how well someone tested the edge cases before release. You know how to create FEA models from scratch, not just run them, and you can look at a mechanics problem and translate it into test cases that actually stress the software in ways that matter. You are comfortable working in LS-DYNA, ANSYS, or similar tools, and you have enough background in solid mechanics to know when a result looks wrong before the numbers tell you.
At Synopsys, you will work on LS-DYNA verification with a global team where what you test directly affects the software that engineers rely on for structural, crash, and dynamics simulations.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Write test cases and build LS-DYNA models from scratch to verify new solver features, structural dynamics capabilities, and explicit dynamics functionality
  • Run functional, regression, and performance tests across Linux, Windows, and cloud environments tovalidatesoftware behavior under real user scenarios
  • Investigate solver regressions and reported bugs, working directly with development teams to reproduce issues, isolate root causes, andvalidatefixes
  • Contribute to LS-DYNA verification manuals by documenting test models, simulation setups, and expected versus actual results for customer-facing documentation
  • Participate in design reviews and requirements planning with solver development teams to shape test strategy for upcoming features
  • Write test cases and build LS-DYNA models from scratch to verify new solver features, structural dynamics capabilities, and explicit dynamics functionality

  • Participate in design reviews and requirements planning with solver development teams to shape test strategy for upcoming features

The Impact You Will Have
  • Ensure that LS-DYNA solver releases meet quality standards before they reach customers running mission-critical simulations in automotive, aerospace, and defense
  • Catch defects and performance issues early in the development cycle, reducing downstream support load and improving customer trust in the product
  • Build test coverage for complex mechanics scenarios like crash, impact, and structural failure that directly affect how engineers simulate real-world behavior
  • Improve automation and test infrastructure so the team can scale verification efforts without adding manual overhead

  • Shape how new solver features are tested by bringing your FEA and mechanicsexpertiseinto requirements discussions with developers
  • Contribute to verification documentation that helps customers understand how LS-DYNA has beenvalidatedand where it performs best
  • Support release cycles by triaging issues, validatingfixes, and ensuring that solver updates do not introduce regressions in existing workflows

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil, or structural engineering with 2+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with relevant academic or industry exposure
  • Strong foundationin structural mechanics, computational mechanics, and finite element methods
  • Hands-on experience creating FEA models using LS-DYNA, ANSYS, ABAQUS, AUTODYN, or similar CAE tools
  • Hands-on experience with Ls- PrePost is a strong plus
  • Experience working in Linux and Windows environments
  • Background in explicit dynamics, structural dynamics, or numerical methods is a strong plus
  • PhD candidates with relevant research in computational mechanics or FEA will be considered

Who You Are
  • You can take a complex system, break it down into testable pieces, and figure out where the failure is happening without needing someone to point you in the right direction
  • You approach your work with care and attention to detail, the kind of person who catches the edge case that everyone else missed
  • You can explain a technical issue clearly in writing, whether you are documenting a test case or filing a defect report that a developer in another time zone will read tomorrow
  • You build good working relationships across teams, development, support, and other testers, because you know that solving hard problems requires collaboration
  • You learn quickly and do not need to be an expert in everything on day one, you ask the right questions and figure out what you need to know
  • You are organized enough to manage multiple test efforts at once without losing track of what needs to happen next

The Team You'll Be Part Of
You will join the Mechanical Business Unit, working closely with developers, technical support specialists, and other verification engineers to test and validate ANSYS applications including LS-DYNA. The team is distributed across geographies, and you will coordinate with colleagues to address cross-team dependencies and ensure product quality across the full suite of structural simulation tools.

Rewards and Benefits
We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
