The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing high quality screening and diagnostic mammography exams in accordance with MQSA guidelines and physician driven protocols. This position will also be responsible for helping to perform breast related procedures. The Mammography technologist works collaboratively with radiologists, breast care navigators, providers and support staff to support early detection and diagnosis of breast disease.
Position Responsibilities
Standard Work: LRHPG Mammography Tech- Perform screening, diagnostic and breast procedures for mammography examinations following established department protocols
- Ensure efficient patient flow, appropriate scheduling and resource utilization
- Obtain and verify physician orders and patient identification prior to all procedures
- Review patient history and access for factors that may impact image quality or patient safety
- Position patients accurately to obtain optimal imaging
- Help patients navigate and participate in breast risk assessments
- Ensure high levels of patient satisfaction through positive interactions and customer service friendly actions
- Operate digital mammography and all breast imaging equipment safely and effectively
- Adhere to MQSA and ACR regulatory requirements and conduct testing and equipment performance checks according to policy
Competencies & Skills
Essential:
- Ability to perform the following exams: Screening mammography, Diagnostic mammography, 3D mammography, Stereotactic breast biopsy assistance, Needle localization assistance and Breast ultrasound assistance if needed
- Ability to evaluate images for quality, positioning and completion before submitting to the Radiologist
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to communicate to leaders any issues or concerns
- Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care and emotional support
- Advanced registry in mammography
