Full Job Description
This field leader will oversee low voltage, controls, and integrated technology systems on hyperscale data centers, AI factories, and other high-performance digital infrastructure projects. This Superintendent will lead safe, quality-driven field execution from pathway and rough-in coordination through startup, functional testing, integrated systems testing, and turnover. The role connects design intent, trade installation, vendor requirements, and commissioning milestones so systems are complete, testable, documented, and operationally ready.

This position can be based in Reno, NV or in a traveling position.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead day-to-day field execution for assigned low voltage, controls, and technology scopes, including manpower planning, workface readiness, logistics, sequencing, and constraint removal.
  • Drive project safety expectations, pre-task planning, LOTO coordination, energized-work controls, housekeeping, access control, and compliance with project-specific safety requirements.
  • Coordinate structured cabling, fiber backbone, telecom rooms, pathways, cable tray, security, access control, CCTV, fire alarm interfaces, leak detection, and other owner or project-specific low voltage systems.
  • Coordinate BAS/BMS, EPMS, DCIM, PLC-based controls, mechanical equipment controls, metering, network communications, monitoring, alarming, and system integration requirements.
  • Lead coordination among electrical, mechanical, controls, low voltage, fire alarm, security, IT/network, equipment vendors, commissioning teams, and owner representatives.
  • Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, coordination models, control diagrams, points lists, sequences of operation, network architecture, and vendor documentation for constructability and scope alignment.
  • Build and manage three-week and six-week lookaheads that align installation, inspections, energization, startup, TAB, functional testing, integrated systems testing, and phased turnover milestones.
  • Implement quality planning through preparatory meetings, first-work inspections, installation checklists, labeling verification, cable testing, point-to-point verification, deficiency tracking, and punch-list closure.
  • Confirm rooms, systems, pathways, power, network, devices, controls panels, sensors, and vendor interfaces are ready before startup and testing activities begin.
  • Support commissioning readiness, including pre-functional checklists, startup documentation, controls checkout, trending, alarm validation, integrated systems testing, owner demonstrations, training, and turnover documentation.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, progress quantities, issue logs, redlines, field observations, inspection records, test reports, and as-built information.
  • Represent Big-D Mission Critical professionally with clients, designers, inspectors, trade partners, vendors, commissioning agents, and facility operations teams.
  • Mentor Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and trade leadership while reinforcing accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and disciplined execution.

  • Working knowledge of commissioning levels, startup sequencing, functional testing, integrated systems testing, and turnover requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, one-lines, risers, control schematics, wiring diagrams, network diagrams, sequences of operation, submittals, schedules, and coordination models.
  • Advanced understanding of construction sequencing, short-interval planning, productivity management, QA/QC, field documentation, and risk identification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and field technology platforms. Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, BIM/VDC coordination, and Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling tools is preferred.
