About the Role:

Caterpillar Oil & Gas is currently seeking a Process Engineer within our Carbon Capture Solutions team. In this role, you will serve as an experienced individual contributor on projects and assignments that are large and complex in nature and that support and enhance Caterpillar processes and product performance, durability, reliability, quality and serviceability.

Additional Information:
  • This position is located in Houston, TX
  • Travel: up to and over 20% (depending on business demand)
  • This position does not offer sponsorship
  • This position is 5 days onsite


Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Technical Leadership
  • Provide technical leadership to process, mechanical, controls, and project engineering teams.
  • Ability to mentor junior process engineers.
  • Assist business development teams with customer presentations and technical discussions.


Process Design & Development
  • Lead development of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Heat and Material Balances, Process Simulations, and Basis of Design Documents
  • Perform process simulations using Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, and other Aspen Suite tools.
  • Perform technoeconomic evaluation of solutions based on process performance, economics, operability, and scalability.
  • Identify performance improvement opportunities and cost reduction initiatives.


Project Execution
  • Support project development from feasibility studies through FEED, detailed design, commissioning, and startup.
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables across internal and external project teams.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and 3-D model reviews.
  • Review vendor packages and support equipment selection.
  • Support construction, commissioning, startup, and performance testing activities.


Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Provide technical support during customer meetings and workshops.
  • Interface with EPC companies, technology providers, and equipment vendors.
  • Present engineering recommendations to internal leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Support preparation of technical proposals and licensing packages.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering /or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of oil and gas experience with increasing responsibility
  • In depth knowledge of molecular sieve technologies including TSA, PSA and VPSA
  • Experience in other gas processing technologies including amine absorption, membranes, and distillation
  • Must have demonstrated excellent analytical skills and have an extensive understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications
  • Demonstrated system level understanding of engines and/or gas turbines in compression, and power generation applications
  • Expertise in heat transfer, phase separation, and contactor / separator design
  • Familiarity with engine emissions and aftertreatment options
  • Experience with computational fluid dynamics software and applications
  • Experience with chemical process flowsheets (Aspen Hysys, etc)
  • Should demonstrate high Emotional Intelligence needed to be successful in a high-pressure environment while handling multiple projects

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.


Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00
