Job Description:

As a Logistics Technician, you will be responsible for managing supplier relationships and coordinating the flow of aftermarket parts to ensure dealer and customer demand is met. You will collaborate with suppliers, buyers, and engineering teams to resolve supply chain challenges, improve delivery performance, and maintain parts availability that helps keep Caterpillar machines operating in the field. Through proactive problem-solving and cross-functional partnership, you will play a key role in supporting a global aftermarket parts network.


Additional Information:

  • This role is located in Morton IL and does not offer relocation.
  • This role is 1st shift, Monday – Friday.
  • This role is 100% on-site with no opportunity for hybrid or remote schedules
  • This role requires up to 5% domestic travel

What You Will Do:

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 25 suppliers supporting aftermarket parts and ensure adequate supply to meet dealer and customer demand.

  • Collaborate daily with suppliers to monitor production schedules, shipment status, and order fulfillment performance.

  • Drive timely shipments of parts to U.S. Distribution Centers (DCs) to support machine uptime and minimize dealer and customer downtime.

  • Identify and resolve supply chain constraints resulting from high demand, supplier backlogs, or production capacity challenges.

  • Partner closely with procurement buyers to address supplier issues, including increased costs, Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) concerns, and sourcing challenges.

  • Coordinate with buyers to identify and qualify alternate suppliers when existing suppliers can no longer manufacture required parts.

  • Work cross-functionally with engineering teams and suppliers to resolve material-related issues and support the development of alternative materials that meet product performance requirements.

  • Monitor supplier shipping performance and drive corrective actions to improve delivery reliability and responsiveness.

  • Manage and resolve PartsViz tasks and supplier-related tickets within established service-level expectations.

  • Collaborate with suppliers through Material Requirements Collaboration (MRC) tools to communicate schedule updates, delivery commitments, and date changes.

  • Analyze supply, demand, and inventory impacts to proactively mitigate risks and maintain parts availability.

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support operational goals and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support the flow of aftermarket parts through the supply chain, helping ensure timely delivery of products that support dealers and customers worldwide.


What You Have (Basic Requirements):

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

  • Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.

What Will Set You Apart (Top Candidates Will Have):

  • Experience working within supply chain, logistics, procurement, or supplier management environments.
  • Proficiency with enterprise systems such as SAP, Material Requirements Collaboration (MRC), or similar planning and supplier collaboration tools.
  • Prior experience partnering directly with suppliers to resolve scheduling, delivery, inventory, or performance-related challenges.
  • Strong ability to navigate multiple systems and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Broad understanding of supply chain processes and cross-functional collaboration across procurement, logistics, and operations teams.
  • Previous Caterpillar experience and familiarity with Caterpillar systems, processes, and supplier networks.
  • Proven ability to build strong supplier relationships and drive timely resolution of supply chain issues.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with a focus on improving parts availability and supporting customer demand.

Summary Pay Range:

$72,360.00 - $108,540.00
