Position: Logistics Manager
Location: Windsor, Ontario
Type: Exempt-Full time

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Transportation Manager leads all domestic and export transportation functions (truck, rail, and vessel). This pivotal role optimizes transportation efficiency, maximizes processing asset utilization, manages costs, and controls inventory through seamless collaboration with transportation, administrative, commercial, and production teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and empower a high-performing team of transportation and administrative professionals
  • Strategize and execute the logistics pipeline, minimizing costs and ensuring timely deliveries
  • Coordinate execution with the commercial team to ensure efficient transportation from plant to customer
  • Oversee a fleet of 200+ private covered hopper cars, maximizing utilization and minimizing idle time and dead freight
  • Manage and monitor 30,000+ truckloads of products per year
  • Analyze market trends in truck freight costs and negotiate favorable rates
  • Manage the location's daily inventory counts to ensure precise reporting
  • Synchronize business execution with operations for seamless workflow and enhanced efficiency
  • Lead daily cross-functional meetings with operations, logistics and commercial teams to ensure strategic alignment
Job Requirements:
Proven experience: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business, or a related field, combined with 5+ years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, or commodity trading. A relevant mix of work experience and studies will be considered.

Computer Competence:
  • Technologically proficient: Quickly master new computer systems and leverage technology to enhance operational efficiency
  • Excel spreadsheets and pivot tables
  • IBM systems and other web based systems would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to multi task and successfully work in a fast paced environment
Aptitude Required:
  • Strategic and analytical mindset with the ability to understand complex logistical challenges
  • Ability to work amidst cross-functional teams, and manage the various priorities to ensure smooth operations of the facilities
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers at all levels
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical
