Job Description:

Logistics Coordinator

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Logistics Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world.

Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Coordinates the transportation of goods to local and national 3M locations, subsidiaries, and customers.
  • Determines how loads will be sent, allocates inventory to specific orders, coordinates trailer or container ordering.
  • Evaluates hazard class of shipments and ensures all regulations are followed for material labeling and paperwork preparation in accordance with DOT and 3M STORM manual. Maintains training qualification as a Hazardous Materials Coordinator per 3M STORM manual. Coordinates, processes and maintains transportation documentation to ensure their accountability by keeping accurate records, generating bills of lading, and checking orders for accuracy.
  • Generates computer reports such as picklists, BOL, hazardous manifest and declarations, and certificates of analysts. Works with Planners, Supply Chain Analyst, and Dock Operators to coordinate pick and ship orders to meet customers’ demands and resolves issues to meet on time delivery.
  • Works with corporate transportation to ensure trailer availability, efficient routing, and carrier selection.
  • • Provides customer service and responds to special requests for items such as expedited orders and special reports to 3M customers and sales organization centers.
  • Audits and prepares invoices for payment. Resolves, documents, and provides feedback on shipping and/or receiving discrepancies such as incomplete orders, incorrect invoices listed on a load ticket, missing freight, damaged freight, unmatched freight bills, etc. to ensure customer satisfaction and accurate orders.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) and six (6) years of experience in a Manufacturing setting.

OR

  • Bachelor's Degree (completed and verified prior to start) and three (3) years of experience in a Manufacturing setting.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • One (1) year of shipping & receiving, logistics and/or warehouse experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Is proficient in shipping hazardous materials through all transportation modes, understands and applies all DOT and Storm manual rules governing the shipment of hazardous goods.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts effectively and take the initiative to resolve issues before they become problems.
  • Clear and conceptual thinking ability; excellent judgment and discretion.
  • Prefers to stay busy with a full workload and enjoys meeting challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to handle work-related stress; handle multiple priorities simultaneously; and meet deadlines.
