Full Job Description
Role Overview

Ostium is building the neo prime broker, a single venue where traders access crypto, FX, commodities, and equities through perpetuals with deep liquidity and tight pricing. Every trade we quote depends on market data feeds, hedging counterparties, and prime broker relationships working in the background, and someone has to own that stack.

As Liquidity Operations, you'll own our prime broker and liquidity provider relationships end to end, own the quality of the market data feeding into the platform, and support the Hedging & Pricing team on the operational work that keeps risk clean. When something breaks in that stack, whether it's a stale feed, a prime broker dispute, or a settlement mismatch, you'll own the resolution.

This is a role for someone equally comfortable on a call with a prime broker negotiating terms and on Slack with an engineer debugging a price feed. You should be someone who reads SQL, writes scripts when needed, and can prototype an integration before handing it off. You'll report to the COO and work closely with the CTO, Trading, and Engineering teams. This is an in-office role based in New York City.

Core Responsibilities
  • Prime Broker Relationships: Own our prime broker and liquidity provider relationships end to end, including onboarding, commercial negotiations, ongoing performance monitoring, and escalations across crypto, FX, and commodities counterparties. You'll be the primary point of contact when renegotiating terms and when Engineering needs help resolving counterparty issues.
  • Market Data Operations: Partner with Engineering to evaluate, integrate, and monitor market data feeds. Own data quality, coverage, and reliability across venues. When a feed fails or an oracle drifts, you'll drive the operational resolution.
  • Hedging & Pricing Support: Work directly with the Hedging & Pricing team on position reconciliation, margin and collateral workflows, settlement processes, and other operational work that keeps risk management running smoothly. Ostium's pricing is only as strong as the infrastructure supporting it, and you'll own that infrastructure.
  • Venue & Counterparty Coverage: Manage relationships across crypto exchanges, FX ECNs, and commodity liquidity providers. Understand pricing, exposure, and commercial opportunities while continuously improving our terms.
  • Execution & Liquidity Reporting: Build and maintain the internal source of truth for how our external infrastructure is performing. Track execution quality, prime broker performance, market data reliability, and liquidity costs, then surface actionable insights.
  • Engineering 14 Operations Bridge: Serve as the bridge between commercial, trading, and technical teams. Translate business requirements into operational solutions and ensure alignment across counterparties, Engineering, and Trading.

Requirements
  • Domain Fluency: 3 to 6 years of experience at a prime broker, hedge fund middle or back office, market maker, trading operations team, or a markets-focused consulting or investment banking firm. You understand market microstructure across at least one of crypto, FX, commodities, or listed derivatives, and can quickly learn the others.
  • Technical Competence: Strong SQL skills, with the ability to write Python scripts or other automation when needed. You understand APIs, common failure modes, and can prototype integrations, analyze data independently, and communicate effectively with engineers about pipelines, latency, and feed schemas. You won't be writing production code, but you should be able to build a working prototype before handing it off.
  • Counterparty Instinct: You've either managed prime broker relationships as a client or worked directly with institutional clients from the provider side. You understand how these relationships function in practice, including commercial negotiations, escalations, and relationship management.
  • Operator Mentality: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed. You proactively identify friction, escalate with proposed solutions, and thrive in startup environments where responsibilities extend well beyond the job description.
  • Market Passion: You closely follow global financial markets and think like someone managing real capital. You understand why liquidity and hedging matter and care deeply about getting the operational details right.

Bonus Qualifications
  • Direct experience with perpetual futures, DEX or CEX operations, or crypto prime brokerage.
  • Hands-on integration experience with market data providers such as Kaiko, Amberdata, Bloomberg, Refinitiv, or Pyth.
  • Experience with derivatives clearing, margining, or FX and commodity settlement.

We're a small team based in New York City. We work hard, not for optics, but because we care deeply about what we're building. We offer competitive compensation and the opportunity to own meaningful work from day one on a platform that has already processed more than $50B in trading volume.
