Linux Administrator Job DescriptionJob TitleLinux AdministratorJob SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Linux Administrator to install, configure, maintain, and optimize Linux-based systems in on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. The ideal candidate will ensure system reliability, security, performance, and availability while supporting infrastructure automation, monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery. The role requires strong troubleshooting skills and collaboration with DevOps, Cloud, Networking, and Security teams.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, administer, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, Ubuntu, Debian, SUSE, CentOS). Monitor system performance, availability, and resource utilization. Perform system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening. Manage user accounts, permissions, groups, and authentication services. Configure and maintain file systems, storage, LVM, RAID, NFS, and Samba. Troubleshoot operating system, application, and hardware-related issues. Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures. Automate system administration tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible. Configure and manage system services, cron jobs, and scheduled tasks. Monitor logs and investigate system alerts using centralized logging tools. Support virtualization, containerization, and cloud-based Linux workloads. Collaborate with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to maintain CI/CD environments. Create and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices. Required SkillsStrong knowledge of Linux administration (RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, SUSE). Experience with shell scripting (Bash) and automation tools. Knowledge of systemd, networking, package management (YUM, DNF, APT, Zypper), and process management. Experience with SSH, DNS, DHCP, NFS, Samba, FTP/SFTP, and web servers (Apache, Nginx). Understanding of storage management, LVM, RAID, and file systems (XFS, EXT4, Btrfs). Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, or Hyper-V. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is an advantage. Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, Zabbix, or SolarWinds. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Experience with Git and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible) is preferred. Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills. Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 2-5+ years of experience as a Linux Administrator, Systems Administrator, or Infrastructure Engineer. Experience managing enterprise Linux environments. Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. Experience implementing Linux security best practices.
