Position Summary


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Administrator with expertise in Linux, specifically Red Hat Enterprise Linux, to support a mission-critical federal program. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of Linux system administration, scripting, automation, and networking. This role involves designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing Linux environments to ensure reliable and secure operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server environments (version 8 and 9).
  • Develop and maintain advanced automation scripts utilizing BASH, Perl, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Perform administration and operational tasks from the command line interface.
  • Automate tasks and manage configurations using tools such as Ansible and RHEL Satellite.
  • Manage package deployment and updates across multiple geographically dispersed environments.
  • Configure and administer network services including NFTables, Firewalld, IPTables, ISC2 BIND DNS, TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, and Postfix/SMTP relay.
  • Oversee Linux server clustering, NFS filesystems (NFSv3 and NFSv4), PXE boot environments, and SELinux configurations.
  • Support container runtime environments (formerly Docker), cloud platforms, and code management systems like GitLab.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system architecture, configurations, and processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure projects.
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connectivity and performance issues.
  • Ensure systems adhere to security hardening standards such as CIS, NIST SP 800-53 Revision 5, and DISA STIGs.
Required Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of experience in Linux/UNIX system administration with interoperability experience with Windows.
  • Current certification in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, or RHCA).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages including BASH, Perl, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Ansible and RHEL Satellite.
  • Familiarity with container runtimes (formerly Docker), cloud services like AWS, and code repositories such as GitLab.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Availability to participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation.
