Life-Cycle Analysis (LCA) Specialist - Chicago, IL
This is an exempt level role.

Position Summary:
The location for this position is flexible. The position will report directly to the VP, Sustainability Portfolio. This position supports Archer Daniels Midland Company's (ADM) global sustainability program, and the ADM-wide growth strategy, by developing an environmental impact assessment strategy for key products, including carbon and water. Working closely in support of business unit leadership and with Legal, Operations, Communications, and other cross-functional corporate stakeholders, the LCA Specialist supports the selection and assessment of products for LCAs. The LCA Specialist also supports the sustainability organization by leveraging their expertise to establish a consistent methodology and implementation approach for product LCA and Scope 3 GHG reductions.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop surveys for data collection related to LCA projects
  • Perform lifecycle assessment of existing productions following various standards and prepare LCA reports compliance to LCA standards for internal and external reviews
  • Perform lifecycle assessment of new products and generate environmental impacts information required for decision making to support ADMs decarbonization efforts
  • Maintain LCI, LCA model and LCA reports for company products including complex operations with multiple coproducts.
  • Monitor and benchmark trends and changes to LCA standards and methodologies to provide insights and recommendations on advancing company's assessment practices.
  • Develop communication materials for internal and external stakeholders to explain LCA methods, LCA results, and Scope 3 emissions
  • Monitor developments related to AI, LCI and LCA Automation and support/lead the implementation within ADM
  • Engagement with external groups for peer-review and validation of LCA studies conducted
  • Any other responsibilities, as may be considered necessary to support and advise management on ADM's sustainability efforts
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher level of education in related field is preferred
  • Three (3) years of experience in a corporate setting with focus on environmental, sustainability or related field
  • At least three (3) years of experience with and knowledge of conducting life-cycle analysis. Desirable to have experience in process simulation modeling and technoeconomic analysis Experience collecting and organizing data
  • Validated strong problem-solving skills, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
  • Experience with using LCA Software, SimaPro (preferable) or any other commercial software
  • Microsoft Office Skills - PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and experience with life-cycle analysis systems or solutions
  • Ability to learn new technologies, grasp concepts quickly and exercise follow-through skills, adhere to a work schedule and address challenges as they arise .
  • Must be proficient in English, although knowledge of another language is beneficial.
  • Experience working in or supporting an international business is preferred.
  • High level of motivation, team-player attitude, and results-oriented way of working.
  • 5-10% travel estimated
