Overview

Orrick is seeking a Licensing Specialist / Paralegal to support the Firm’s Financial and Fintech Advisory (FFA) practice. This role provides skilled support on licensing and regulatory matters and works closely with attorneys and clients to help manage matters accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

The Licensing Specialist / Paralegal will support licensing matters, regulatory research, filings, and related client work. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple matters independently while exercising sound judgment.

Responsibilities
  • Support licensing matters, including applications, renewals, registrations, amendments, and related filings.
  • Gather, review, and organize information and supporting documentation for regulatory submissions.
  • Assist attorneys with regulatory research, document preparation, and related client matters.
  • Maintain accurate licensing records, databases, calendars, and tracking tools.
  • Research applicable licensing requirements using regulatory websites, databases, and other resources.
  • Communicate with attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders regarding routine licensing matters.
  • Monitor assigned deadlines and follow up to ensure matters remain on track.
  • Identify discrepancies or missing information and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance the accuracy and efficiency of licensing support.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in a legal, regulatory, licensing, compliance, or professional services environment.
  • Experience supporting licensing, regulatory filings, or related legal or compliance activities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and professional client-service orientation.
  • Ability to research requirements, identify issues or inconsistencies, and follow matters through to completion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting financial services, consumer lending, or other regulated businesses.
  • Familiarity with state licensing requirements and regulatory processes.
  • Experience working in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Experience with licensing databases, online filing systems, or other regulatory technology.

Compensation and Benefits

 

The expected salary range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000.

This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick’s estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography.  Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
