Licensing Specialist

Position Overview:

Maintain NRC and state radioactive materials licenses, including change requests and documentation. Serves as regulatory interface on licensing and compliance matters. Coordinates follow-up efforts to NRC and state compliance inspections. Serves as compliance resource for packaging and transport of radioactive materials, including packages requiring NRC approval.

Location:

On-site in Erwin, Tennessee.

Your Day to Day as a Licensing Specialist:

1. Plans and organizes the NFS Erwin activities associated with NRC and state licensing, including license applications, amendment and renewal requests, decommissioning requests, and associated documentation.

2. Prepares licensing submittals to regulatory agencies, directs the consolidation of licensing input from all areas of the company for submittal to regulatory agencies and exercises judgement based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.

3. Supports reviews of the NFS licensing programs for compliance with appropriate governmental rules and regulations.

4. Interfaces with and provides assistance to NRC and other regulatory inspectors and licensing personnel.

5. Establishes liaison with and acts as a licensing resource to other team members and groups such as Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Health Physics, Industrial Safety, and Environmental Safety on matters pertaining to license and regulatory compliance.

6. Review regulatory information notices, new regulations, inspection reports, and related documents and advise responsible groups on action necessary to achieve compliance.

7. Administers the activities associated with tracking regulatory commitments including entering the commitments into the correction action program systems, generating reports to track the status of the commitments, and ensuring they are properly documented to support closure.

8. Solves complex licensing problems; takes on new perspectives on existing licensing solutions; and uses best licensing practices and knowledge to improve the licensing program.

9. Works independently acting as a licensing resource for colleagues with less knowledge of regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications:

B. S./B. A. -- Engineering, Physical Science or Business Administration

With a B. S. degree, it requires 6-8 years of experience. Previous experience with regulatory requirements and regulatory agencies is required. This can include experience in the nuclear field involving areas such as licensing, regulatory compliance, quality assurance or directly related experience in a highly-regulated business.

BWXT Salary Grade: 7.1

Pay: $76,000 - $119,000

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $76,000 and $119,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
