Full Job Description
Under general direction, the Licensed Clinical Supervisor supervises licensed clinicians and other behavioral healthcare professionals, paraprofessionals, and/or interns; coordinates day-to-day functions and ensures appropriate staff coverage; provides psychiatric clinical and case management services; and performs other duties as assigned. This Licensed Clinical Supervisor posting is being opened to create a list that will be used to fill current and future vacancies. Qualified applicants will remain on the list and will be referred to available vacancies for the duration that the eligible list remains active. Currently, we have one (1) opening in Custody Health Services. Selected candidate(s) must be able to work in a correctional facility, which requires passing a background check for security clearance. Custody Health Services - Custody Health Services (CHS) provides medical, mental health, and dental services to patients in custody at the four County detention facilities: Main Jail, Elmwood, Juvenile Hall, and James Ranch. On-site routine and urgent/emergent medical services are provided at both Main Jail and Elmwood adult jail facilities in Santa Clara County. Health care of incarcerated patients includes care of acute and chronic illness as well as preventative and specialty care. CHS also operates a 40-bed acute psychiatric inpatient housing unit at the Main Jail facility for incarcerated adults who require acute inpatient services for stabilization. Juvenile Custody Health Services provides integrated medical services including comprehensive pediatric medical, mental health, and dental care to justice-involved youth housed in Juvenile Hall and James Ranch. Typical Tasks The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed. 33Coordinates the day-to-day operations of clinic/program services; 33Supervises a multi-disciplinary staff of clinicians engaged in assessing social, emotional, and economic causes of problem behavior and mental or emotional disorders and in developing and modifying treatment plans; approves alternate treatment plans and termination or transfer of cases; supervises consultation activities of employees; assigns and reassigns employee caseload, as necessary; 33Confers with staff regularly regarding techniques used, case progress, and related matters for the purpose of promoting and evaluating professional development and assuring quality of care, as well as reviewing work in progress; 33Conducts regular case conferences with clinicians and interns for supervision, consultation, and clinical chart audits; 33Coordinates the assignment of cases, conducts staff meetings, and provides training; schedules staff to provide for clinic coverage; evaluates work performance; assists in disciplinary proceedings; 33Reviews psychiatric case records and selects cases for discussion; 33Maintains a small caseload or handles some of the more complex cases; performs a variety of direct clinical, diagnostic, treatment, and outreach services; 33Ensures compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as departmental and county policies and procedures; 33Participates in the establishment or revision of policies, procedures, guidelines, goals, and objectives; 33Provides clinical supervision and consultation to student interns, pre-licensed staff, and other staff on department services, programs, and guidelines; 33Provides formal, continuing in-service training for clinical and program staff in specialized areas of behavioral health therapy or substance use treatment; 33Assists with program planning, implementation, and evaluation activities; 33May participate in community outreach and public relations activities; 33May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker (DSW), as required*; 33Performs other related duties, as required. Employment Standards Sufficient education, training, and experience to demonstrate the ability to perform the above tasks, plus the possession and direct application of the following knowledge and abilities: Training and Experience Note: The required knowledge and abilities are attained through possession of a Masters Degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or related field. and Three (3) years of post-license experience as a behavioral health/mental health clinician providing clinical and/or case management services. Lead or supervisory experience is desirable. Special Requirements Specialized program knowledge may be required when it can be demonstrated that: 1.it is required for the successful operation of the program; 2.the Licensed Clinical Supervisor will be held accountable for this specialized knowledge; and 3.other staff will not be able to provide the subject matter expertise that is required. 33Possess and maintain, for the duration of employment in this classification, one (1) of the following: 1.Licensed Clinical Social Worker as issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences; 2.Marriage and Family Therapist as issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences; 3.Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) as issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences; 33Possess a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number, upon appointment, for certain positions; 33Some positions may require the possession and maintenance of credentialing for Medicare, within three months of hire into the classification; 33Some positions may require possession of Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR certification upon appointment; 33Ability to travel to alternate locations in the course of work. If driving, possession of a valid California drivers license prior to appointment and the ability to qualify for and maintain a County driver authorization. 33*As a condition of employment, pursuant to California Government Code Sections 3100-3109 and Local Ordinance, all County of Santa Clara employees are designated Disaster Service Workers (DSWs), including extra help.
