About the Position:
This 310T Licensed Mechanic/Technician ( T4 ) performs major and technically difficult diagnostics, repairs, and overhauls/rebuilds in a timely manner; ensuring quality, time standards, customer expectations, cost guidelines and reliability goals are met. The 310T Licensed Mechanic/Technician ( T4 ) works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and mentors other Ryder technicians on a regular basis. The 310T Licensed Mechanic/Technician ( T4 ) provides the highest level of experience and expertise in vehicle diagnostics and repair. The position also plays a key role in the leadership, development and training of other grade technicians. The 310T Licensed Mechanic/Technician ( T4 ) may specialize in areas such as: refrigeration, electronics, exhaust systems, etc., and should possess a combination of extensive vehicle transportation experience, ASE certifications, and/or multiple Ryder Qualifications.

Wage: $40 per hour + $1.00 per hour afternoon shift premium
Location: Kitchener, ON
Shifts: 2-week rotating shift: Dayshift is M to F, 6:30am to 3:00pm, Afternoon shift is M to F, 2:30pm to 11:00pm
Essential Functions- Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties upon Tire and Wheel, Brakes-Air, Brakes-Hydraulic, A/C, Heater & Refrigeration, Cargo Handling/Transfer, Liftgates, Cranking System: (Electrical), Lighting System, Electrical Accessories, Clutch, Cooling Systems, Drive Axles, Drive Line, Diesel and Gas Engines - All Engines, Fuel Systems, Steering and Non-Driven Axles, Suspension-Chassis And Cab, Vehicle Coupling System (PM) etc.
- Coaches/mentors other level technicians
- Advise shop management and other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics.
- Performs facility maintenance duties.
- Utilizes key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available.
- Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, dot, mot)
- Other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to service island support.
Skills and Abilities- Strong mechanical skills. Ability to demonstrate proficiency with advanced diagnostics, overhaul and repair of all vehicle components and systems. Perform all entry level tasks, road test vehicles as necessary
- Ability to read and/or listen and understand information and ideas communicated.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly thorough and dependable. Available for on call duty and work shift work/weekend

Qualifications- H.S. diploma/GED preferred
- Vocational or Technical Certification preferred Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications
- Basic tools, required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
- Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work
- Diagnostics and repairs, including AC, electrical systems,
- Advanced skilled level repairs to include some major engine repairs, diesel after treatment or automotive fuel injection repairs required - Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred
- Knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
