Job Summary:

The Ontario Tech University Library invitesapplications for a subject specialist Liaison Librarian (full-time, contract).The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of Liaison Librarians whocontribute to fulfilling the Library's mandate of supporting the teaching,learning and research missions of both Ontario Tech University and DurhamCollege. Collectively, the team is responsible for building and curatingexcellent collections necessary to support the curriculum as well ascontributing to student success and engagement through provision of researchand reference services and information literacy instruction, both one-on-one,in classroom settings and online. Some evening and weekend shifts may berequired. Librarians are currently working in a hybrid remote work model, witha minimum of 2 days per week required on campus.

Reporting to the Associate UniversityLibrarian, Scholarly Resources, the successful candidate will be responsiblefor outreach and liaison with the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ontario TechUniversity and Durham College. The incumbent will also serve both institutionsmore generally through the provision of research support and consultations(including research and publishing support), information literacy, collectiondevelopment and related projects. Working in a collaborative, team-basedenvironment, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain currentawareness within Health Science fields as well as keep abreast of developmentsin information and digital literacies, scholarly communication, open access,digital scholarship and pedagogy, and emerging trends in higher education. Theincumbent will support library assessment and continuous improvementinitiatives, compile and analyze data on library services, spaces andresources, and produce reports as part of institutional program quality andaccreditation processes. Responsibility for other projects or initiatives mayalso be assigned.

Responsibilities/accountabilities:

Information Literacy & Research Services
• Collaborate in the planning, delivery and evaluation of information literacy initiatives, including the development and maintenance of the library's eLearning content.
• Teach library classes and deliver workshops for a variety of subjects and specialized services (e.g. copyright, research metrics, data and geospatial) in person and online
• Effectively integrate library resources in the curriculum through faculty liaison, workshops, and class sessions
• Provide both general and subject-specific reference assistance, in person, online and via telephone and through small group and individual consultations
• Develop and maintain customized information resources and tools to support curriculum, research and administrative needs, including library research guides
• Develop an understanding of the research landscapes at both institutions
• In collaboration with institutional stakeholders, support research across the entire scholarly communication cycle, including compliance with Tri-Agency open access deposit requirements and research data management policy, publishing support, and research impact metrics
• Promote and support use of specialized information and resources (e.g. bibliographic, statistical, data, geospatial, citation management tools) by the university and college community
• Provide research support and instruction to students and faculty undertaking systematic reviews, scoping reviews and other types of knowledge synthesis

Outreach & Liaison
• Promote library services and resources to the university and college community in a variety of formats and settings, leveraging multiple communication channels
• Establish and maintain professional relationships and liaise with faculty, staff, students, and other library users
• Collaborate with others in the library, university, college and educational community to promote library services
• Participate in professional organizations and consortial initiatives
• Advance the Library's strategic directions, such as scholarly communication, digital scholarship, open access, hosting and publishing institutional scholarly output

Collection Development
• Build and manage collections that support the teaching and research needs of both Ontario Tech University and Durham College
• Engage in innovative and emerging collection development practices including selection and deselection of a variety of resource types and formats (e.g. data, print, electronic, media, software)

Required Skills
• Maintain knowledge and awareness of emerging trends in higher education and academic librarianship
• Proactively advance principles of equity, diversity and inclusion in the provision of Library programs, services and collections
• Knowledge and experience in collection development and emerging practices in collection management
• Familiarity with the scholarly communication ecosystem including research data management, emerging publishing models, research dissemination practices, and research impact metrics
• Fluency in open practices including open science, data, open educational resources and pedagogy
• Collaborative and collegial, able to cultivate strong working relationships with diverse colleagues and clientele

Required Experience
• 1 to 3 years of professional library experience, preferably in an academic library setting

Required Education
• MLIS or equivalent from an ALA accredited institution

Preferred Experience
• Previous experience working in an academic health sciences, hospital library or equivalent setting
• Demonstrated research skills and knowledge of key databases and information sources in the Health Sciences
• Understanding of knowledge synthesis research methods in the Health Sciences
• Previous experience supporting researchers engaged in scoping and systematic reviews
