DescriptionLevel I Quality Assurance SpecialistThe GBS Group has an exciting opportunity in Philadelphia, PA for a Quality Assurance / Material Control Specialist to be part of a team of QA Specialists and Inspectors supporting US Navy Submarine QA and Material certification. This work will include Quality Management System Program, Quality Assurance Program, Shipboard Work Quality Assurance Program, Command Level I Material Program, and support for the SUBSAFE Program Office, Special Programs/Test Site Quality Assurance.
- Responsibilities:
- Quality Planning
- Developing Technical Quality Assurance Requirements, to be reviewed and approved by the Government, in support of procurement of Submarine Antenna and Periscope System and component parts including all technical requirements of the applicable contract, drawings, material specifications/standards, and the Quality Assurance standard.
- Support services to develop a Product Verification Inspection (PVI) and Quality Letters of Instruction (QALI) in support of inspections required to be performed by Defense Contracts Management Agency (DCMA) representatives in accordance with requirements cited in current procurements.
- Auditing
- Provide services to support the performance of Audits and vendor surveys in accordance with NSWCPD Quality Assurance procedures.
- Develop audit schedules and checklists, conduct audits in assigned areas, develop findings and produce final audits reports.
- Maintain an audit database to include findings, proposed corrective actions, complete audit cards, and associated metrics.
- Support SUBSAFE Functional Audits (SSFA) of NSWCPD.
- Supporting the Team Lead, responsible for the administrative preparations for the audit, development of the auditor notebooks, participation in audit execution, develop findings, and produce final audit reports.
- Perform NSWCPD SSFA of an Assigned Activity or prospective Assigned Activity.

- Maintain an audit database to include findings, proposed corrective actions, and complete audit cards.
- Support NSWCPD Internal SUBSAFE Certification Audits (I-SSCA).
- Review of Objective Quality Evidence (OQE)
- Research reference data cited and review quality systems, procedures, OQE and in-process work processes to support SUBSAFE and LEVEL I certification of finished products in accordance with NSWCPD Quality Assurance procedures.
- Requirements:
- Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED, and a graduate of military schools which provided an in-depth knowledge of naval shipboard systems maintenance and operation; or be a graduate of a trade, industrial or correspondence school for engineering.
- Minimum Experience: Five (5) years' experience working with quality systems which meet either MIL-I-45208 or ISO 9000 standards.
- Familiarity with Navy Ships and Systems, SUBSAFE or LEVEL 1 Material controls is preferred.
