Full Job Description
Arnold & Porter is seeking an experienced Legal Nurse Analyst to support its Products Liability and Mass Tort Litigation practice working a hybrid schedule in one of the following offices: Boston, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, or Washington, DC. This position will work on complex, large-scale products liability matters involving pharmaceutical and medical device claims. The Legal Nurse Analyst will apply clinical knowledge and substantial professional experience to evaluate medical issues central to litigation, including the appropriateness of treatment in relation to diagnosis, applicable standards of care, causation, and damages. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, analytical professional with strong research, writing, communication, and project-management skills. Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, review, investigate, and research legal documents, medical records, nursing and healthcare literature, and relevant standards and guidelines.
  • Analyze medical records, legal materials, healthcare literature, standards of care, treatment costs, and other case-related information.
  • Assess medical treatment and clinical issues as they relate to diagnoses, alleged injuries, and legal claims.
  • Facilitate communication regarding medical aspects of matters with clients, parties, experts, witnesses, and vendors.
  • Draft case-related documents and attorney work product involving healthcare and medical issues.
  • Educate attorneys and other team members on medical and healthcare facts relevant to assigned matters.
  • Assist attorneys in developing case strategy and preparing for settlement, arbitration, mediation, and trial.
  • Support the adjudication of legal claims by organizing and analyzing medical evidence and related materials.
  • Assist with trial preparation and provide litigation support at trial on medical and healthcare issues in products liability and mass tort matters.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of client information and work product at all times.
Qualifications
  • Nursing degree and current or prior nursing license required; advanced nursing degree preferred.
  • At least seven years of relevant experience in a law firm, insurance company, healthcare facility, or similar environment.
  • Significant experience reviewing and analyzing medical records and healthcare-related documentation.
  • Knowledge of legal and medical research methods, healthcare literature, and standards of care.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate significant volumes of information, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional presence, sound judgment, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional client service and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours and travel as business needs require.

The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
