Job DescriptionYour contribution!As Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in supporting the company's activities across the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects. You will provide practical, business-oriented legal advice on project development, procurement, construction, acquisitions, financing, commercial contracting, and partnerships.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support projects across British Columbia, other Canadian provinces, and the United States-from early-stage development through financing, construction, operation, and potential acquisition.
Your day-to-day!- Participate in renewable energy project development, procurement, construction, acquisition, financing, and corporate transaction files
- Support legal workstreams related to project financings, acquisitions, partnerships, and development initiatives, including due diligence, documentation, closing, and post-closing follow-up
- Monitor and ensure the completion of legal commitments and obligations before and after transaction closings
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts (development, procurement, services, confidentiality, partnership, financing-related and project-related agreements)
- Coordinate and manage legal aspects of community, Indigenous, commercial, and financial partnerships in collaboration with internal stakeholders
- Provide practical legal advice to business units on operations, risk management, governance, and commercial relationships
- Support the development and implementation of internal legal processes, templates, and best practices
- Manage multiple files and complex transactions while coordinating with internal stakeholders and external counsel
Your skills, our requirements!- Member in good standing of the Law Society of British Columbia
- Membership in a U.S. state bar is an asset
- 5 to 7 years of relevant legal experience (law firm, in-house, or both)
- Experience in areas such as project financing, mergers and acquisitions, renewable energy project development, infrastructure, procurement, construction, commercial contracts, or corporate transactions
- Experience in renewable energy, power, infrastructure, natural resources, or project development sectors is an asset
- Experience coordinating due diligence, transaction closings, and post-closing obligations is an asset
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities within tight deadlines
- Strong organizational skills, autonomy, attention to detail, and sound judgment
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, discretion, and ethical standards
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across legal, business, technical, financial, and operational teams
- Practical, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with document management systems or legal project management platforms is an asset

- This position is a P3 level.

Pay Transparency StatementCompensation for roles at Innergex varies based on a wide range of factors, including skill set, education, and relevant experience. We are committed to pay equity and take internal equity among current team members into account when determining any final offer.
To support pay transparency, the
hiring range for this position is
$105,000-$130,000 per year, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. Your final base salary, if hired, will be determined by factors such as your skills, education, and experience, along with our commitment to internal equity.
Please note that it is not typical to hire at the top of the hiring range, as doing so limits opportunities for future salary growth. Innergex also offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
