Job DescriptionAbout the Role:The
Legal Counsel, GI2 Therapy Area, Strategy and Portfolio Development role is a
Senior Director level position reporting to the
Head Counsel, GI Business Unit. This role is responsible for providing expert legal advice, interpreting laws and regulations, and leading legal risk management efforts to support Takeda's business objectives and patient-focused mission. The position partners with U.S. and global Commercial, Research & Development, Strategy, and other cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, solution-oriented legal counsel, support product commercialization and lifecycle management strategies, and help drive cross-functional and cross-product initiatives. The role ensures business strategies align with legal and regulatory requirements, conducts comprehensive legal analyses on complex and high-risk matters, and provides legal support across Takeda's brands, assets, and functions as needed.
How you will contribute:- Provide high-quality and solution-oriented legal support for US and Global Commercial, Research and Development, Strategic and other functions.
- Support product commercialization and lifecycle management strategies.
- Help support cross-functional and cross product strategy and ensures the strategy is consistent with legal counsel.
- Conducts and ensures comprehensive legal analysis on complex and high-risk issues.
- Provides legal support across Company brands, assets and functions, as necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:- Holds active State Bar Membership and is authorized to practice law.
- 5+ years of experience working as in-house counsel in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry and supporting marketed products preferred.
- 5+ years of experience of law practice (e.g., in a law firm, solo law practice, Government or Regulatory Agency) preferred.
- Significant expertise in areas of laws and regulations applicable to the pharmaceutical industry, including regulations relating to all aspects of early, late stage and marketed pharmaceutical products, collaboration and business partner management, contract negotiation and interpretation, anti-bribery, anti-corruption and anti-kickback law and guidance; pricing and access and privacy.
- Experience leading, advising and building consensus on cross functional teams responsible for business and strategic planning.
- Experience translating complex legal analysis and risk mitigation into pragmatic and solution-oriented business strategy in the U.S. and globally. Experience counseling Pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing teams.
- Experience guiding organizational adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Advocacy for high ethical standards, conduct and patients.

U.S. Base Salary Range:$229,600.00 - $360,800.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
