Are you a litigation lawyer looking to join an in-house legal team without saying goodbye to your courtroom practice before judges, arbitrators, or mediators? As Legal Counsel, Prevention, Dispute Resolution and Litigation, you will represent Pomerleau and its subsidiaries before the courts in complex, stimulating matters while supporting large-scale construction projects ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion in value.

What you will do
• Draft pleadings, conduct examinations, review expert reports, and prepare for and represent the company at trials and hearings before judicial courts, administrative tribunals, and arbitration panels;
• Provide legal advice and strategic support to management and project teams on a wide range of legal issues impacting the company's operations;
• Draft and review notices, legal opinions, and other correspondence required to preserve the company's rights on active projects, including notices of claim, dispute, mediation, and arbitration;
• Lead settlement discussions, including settlement conferences and mediation sessions;
• Liaise, as required, with external legal counsel on matters such as occupational health and safety, bankruptcy and insolvency, the BSDQ (Quebec Construction Bid Depository), and other specialized legal issues;
• Perform any other related duties involving legal matters affecting the operations of the company and its subsidiaries.

This role could be for you if you have
• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. or J.D.) and membership in the Barreau du Québec. Membership in the Law Society of Ontario would also be considered an asset;
• Approximately five years of litigation experience;
• Solid knowledge of construction law (an asset);
• Demonstrated initiative, autonomy, versatility, and a strong team-oriented mindset;
• Ability to quickly grasp complex issues and collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels;
• Strong analytical skills with a solution-oriented approach;
• Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills;
• Full professional proficiency in French and strong proficiency in English;
• Proficiency with relevant computer applications and software, including Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases;
• On occasion, travel may be required.
