Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our global legal team, providing support across the Americas region including a strong focus on the United States. Apart from four locations in the US, the Americas region includes our presence in Canada, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Suriname, Chile and Brazil.

This position is designed to strengthen our legal capabilities in the region and ensure closer alignment with business and compliance priorities.

The Legal Counsel will report directly to the General Counsel based in Denmark, consistent with our legal team structure globally (UK, Denmark, Singapore), while working closely with the Americas regional leadership team and regional support functions.

Key responsibilities and tasks
  • Provide legal support for operations across the Americas, with a focus on U.S. regulatory, compliance, insurance, and commercial matters.
  • Serve as the legal representative and secretary for our U.S. legal entity, including corporate governance, regulatory filings, and contract management, where feasible.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts and agreements.
  • Work closely with management and business units in terms of legal risks, regulatory developments, and compliance obligations.
  • Support regional leadership in aligning business objectives with legal and compliance frameworks.
  • Collaborate with global legal team members to ensure consistency and best practices across jurisdictions.
  • Manage external counsel relationships across the region

Qualifications and competencies
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law in Texas or another state in which we operate (Florida, Illinois).
  • Minimum 4-6 years of post-qualification legal experience, preferably gained in a mix of law firm and in-house corporate environments.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. corporate, regulatory, and compliance matters.
  • Excellent judgment, analytical skills, and ability to balance legal risks with business priorities.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple matters simultaneously, and collaborate effectively across functions and regions.
  • Can do-attitude and a sense of humor.

Preferred attributes
  • Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or international trade industry.
  • Prior involvement in insurance and risk management legal matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships across diverse cultural and business environments.
