Full Job Description
About the role

Following our successful expansion into the U.S. and continued growth across Europe, we are seeking a Legal Business Partner (Legal Counsel) to help drive our Legal function from our Austin hub (with global support across other juristictions).

This person will become the second member of our growing Legal Department. In this role, you will partner directly with our Legal Manager to build and scale Biorce's legal infrastructure from the ground up. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You will transition smoothly from leading standard international contract negotiations to optimising our day-to-day legal operations.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for a versatile, business-oriented legal professional who is comfortable operating as a generalist and collaborating closely with multiple teams. You enjoy balancing hands-on contract work with broader legal operations, process optimisation, and proactive risk spotting.

Someone who combines strong commercial judgment, clear communication, and a hands-on mindset. This person should be able to move confidently between contract negotiations, internal stakeholder support, and the creation of scalable legal processes that enable the business rather than slow it down.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Contracting: Draft, review, and negotiate standard commercial agreements, including NDAs, MSAs, AIaaS agreements, vendor contracts, and work orders based on the company's playbooks and guidelines.
  • General Legal Support: Work closely with the Legal Manager to support a wide range of corporate, employment, privacy, and compliance matters across internal business units.
  • Legal Operations & CLM: Own the end-to-end Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) process, ensuring proper tracking of signatures, expirations, compliance obligations, and internal document organization.
  • AI Innovation: Assist in the testing and implementation of cutting-edge AI tools to automate workflows, helping to build the department as a highly efficient, AI-native team.
  • Template Modernization: Collaborate in creating, updating, and optimizing localized and global contract templates to improve the department's turnaround times and efficiency.
  • Risk Management & Escalation: Actively identify operational legal risks, propose business-oriented alternatives, and ensure proper escalation of high-impact or ambiguous issues to the Legal Manager.

Requirements

Must-haves

  • Education: Law Degree (LL.B. or equivalent) and fully qualified to practice law (admitted to the Bar or equivalent) in at least one jurisdiction.
  • Experience: Around 3-5 years of professional legal experience.
  • International Exposure: Proven experience handling cross-border commercial transactions and interacting with international counterparties.
  • AI-Native Mindset: Tech-savvy and naturally curious about leveraging AI tools (e.g., AI legal assistants, prompt engineering, or legal research tech) to optimize daily work. We are building a tech-forward team, not a traditional legal department.
  • Startup Mindset: A hands-on, solution-oriented approach with a "no task too small" attitude. You enjoy building processes as much as analyzing legal clauses.
  • Full professional proficiency in English is mandatory (this is our primary working language for global support).

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in high-growth tech, SaaS, AI, life sciences, or biotech environments.
  • Exposure to privacy, employment, corporate, or compliance matters alongside commercial work.
  • A genuine interest in leveraging AI tools and legal technology to optimise day-to-day work.
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish.

Why Join Us?

  • A dynamic work environment with an international team, where collaboration and diversity thrive.
  • Work alongside top talent, united by a shared purpose and committed to making a real impact.
  • Comprehensive private health coverage to ensure your physical and mental well-being.
  • Hybrid work model offering flexibility to balance your professional and personal life.
  • Company events to celebrate achievements and enjoy time together.
  • Get equipped with a MacBook to enhance your productivity and work experience.
  • Our office is pet-friendly! You'll likely be greeted by a few wagging tails upon arrival.
