About the Role
The Legal Business Manager serves as a strategic and operational partner to the General Counsel, helping ensure the Legal team is aligned with business priorities and positioned to support the company's continued growth.
This role sits at the intersection of Legal, Finance, Technology, Compliance, and business leadership. You'll help drive key initiatives, support planning and decision-making, and bring structure to the work that enables the Legal function to operate effectively and scale with the business.
The ideal candidate is a strong relationship builder and problem solver who is effective at building alignment across teams and influencing outcomes. They are resourceful, adaptable, and energized by the opportunity to help scale a growing function within a dynamic organization.
This position reports to Corient's General Counsel.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic partner to the General Counsel, helping define priorities, drive execution, and align Legal initiatives with broader business objectives.
- Help shape the Legal function's strategy, priorities, and ways of working to support company growth, innovation, and risk management.
- Lead and coordinate high-priority initiatives across Legal and key partner functions, including Finance, Technology, Compliance, and business teams.
- Support strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and vendor management for the Legal function.
- Prepare executive-level presentations, analyses, and briefing materials for leadership meetings, Board discussions, and key business reviews.
- Collaborate with Technology teams to improve legal operations, reporting capabilities, and the use of technology across the function.
- Drive process improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability, and collaboration across the Legal function.
- Act as a liaison between Legal and key business partners, helping align priorities and ensure effective execution of strategic initiatives.
- Partner across business functions to understand emerging needs and help ensure the Legal team is positioned to proactively support the organization.
Qualifications
- 6-10 years of experience in business management, strategy, consulting, chief of staff, business operations, legal operations, or related fields.
- Experience supporting senior executives and operating effectively in complex organizations.
- Experience working within or closely supporting Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance, or other corporate functions is preferred.
- A legal background is not required; however, familiarity with legal organizations, legal operations, or regulated environments is a plus.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect functional priorities to enterprise-wide objectives.
- Exceptional organizational and project leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills; experience with reporting, analytics, and business intelligence tools is a plus.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues into clear recommendations for senior leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, build relationships, and drive outcomes without direct authority.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.

Physical Requirements
- This position requires the physical capabilities to work in an office environment, which may include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
