Lean Engineer I

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Lean Engineer I that will support project teams with applying Mortenson's kaizen-based continuous improvement approach, to enhance work safety, making the work easier, with a long-term vision to improve project and company outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partner closely with project leadership and team members to establish trust and gain buy-in for lean approaches
  • Provide regular feedback to project leadership and the project lean leader on the work, culture and improvement journey of teams.
  • Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
  • Support continuous improvement efforts onsite
  • Coordinate and facilitate Kaizen events/workshops with project teams and experts
  • Reinforce continuous improvement principles and ensure people at the center culture
  • Support project leaders in assessing capacity to sustain standardized work, and addressing abnormalities
  • Encourage team members to trystorm and implement ongoing improvements
  • Support flow and work management onsite
  • Participate in flow schedule development for work phases
  • Support superintendents and forepersons in daily planning, work management, and learning approaches
  • Promote one-piece flow for all work.
  • All other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Construction Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related degree

OR Equivalent combination of education and technical/field experience demonstrated over multiple years of related work experience
  • Internship experience in construction or manufacturing (or related field/experience)
  • Current driver's license
  • Solid understanding of continuous improvement principles and their application
  • Excellent reliability and follow-through on commitments
  • Effective coach and mentor
  • Ability to influence through relationship building
  • Proactive self-starter with a growth mindset

The base pay range for this role is $78800 MIN-$98500 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
