Job Description:

Cat Technology collaborates with partners across the Caterpillar enterprise to advance technologies including autonomy and automation, which helps enhance site safety, productivity and efficiency across customer operations worldwide. Cat Technology also owns enterprise-wide initiatives in innovation, research and development, manufacturing automation and advanced materials, ensuring Caterpillar continues to lead the industry in technological excellence and engineering innovation. Cat Technology owns accountability for construction industries technology products that include Cat Grade, Cat Detect, Cat Payload, and Cat Command.

Cat Technology is searching for a Lean 6 Sigma Black Belt to help guide process and resolution for global support issues by utilizing the 6 Sigma process for the Cat Technology product portfolio. This position is focused on driving issue resolution throughout the internal Autonomy and Automation teams by partnering with Cat Digital, product groups, and supporting Cat Technology teams. The position is suited for people that are looking for opportunities for increased leadership, global team collaboration, and exposure to all of Caterpillar's machine product groups.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead, manages, and support projects related to process and product improvements using Lean, Six Sigma and project management methodologies to achieve business goals.
  • Lead and manage Six Sigma project portfolios to achieve measurable business process improvements.
  • Employ Six Sigma methodology into organizational operations to meet business goals and objectives.
  • Take ownership of the CPI process driving issue resolution for team process improvements, field follow issues, and high impact commercial issues.
  • Champion technology issues with partner organizations to drive issue resolution in a timely manner.


What You Will Have (Basic Requirements):

  • Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering, Marketing, Manufacturing or equivalent focused curriculum.


  • Active Learning: Understanding the necessity for continuous personal growth and learning; ability to gauge one's strengths, limitations and interests accurately, and use this knowledge for purposes of performance effectiveness self-development.


  • Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.


  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.


  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.


  • Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.


  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.


  • Six Sigma Methodology: Knowledge of the concepts of six sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) methodology; ability to use the methodology to improve the manufacturing processes and control the improvements by eliminating root causes.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
