Job DescriptionLead Water Resources Engineer/Sr. ModelerBrampton, ONWe are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Water Resources Engineer/Modeler to lead and support complex hydrologic and hydraulic modeling projects. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in surface water modeling, floodplain analysis, and water resources planning. This role involves technical leadership, project management, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions and will be working in our Infrastructure Group.
What a day at EXP has in store for you- Lead the development and application of hydrologic and hydraulic models (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, MIKE, Info Works).
- Conduct floodplain mapping, risk assessments, and mitigation planning.
- Analyze surface water systems including rivers, streams, and urban drainage networks.
- Interpret and present modeling results to stakeholders, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to technical excellence across projects.
- Collaborate with GIS specialists, engineers, and planners to integrate modeling with spatial analysis and infrastructure design.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.
- Proposal writing and support the team during proposals.
What your experience looks like- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in water resources modeling.
- Proficiency in industry-standard modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS 2D, HEC-HMS, SWMM, MIKE, Info Works ICM).
- Strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles, floodplain management, and stormwater systems.
- Experience with GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) and data integration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility is preferred.
Preferred Skills- Familiarity with provincial and federal water management regulations.
- Experience working with municipalities, conservation authorities, or government agencies.
- Experience with climate change impact assessments and resiliency planning.
- Knowledge of scripting or automation tools (Python, MATLAB) for model enhancement.
