Summary

About the Position: Lead Telecommunications Specialist position in the Directorate of Engineering & Cyber, Wideband Control Test Division at Tobyhanna Army Depot.

Duties

Help

  • Develop feasibility studies in order to investigate, analyze and perform corrective actions affecting interruptions, equipment failures and interface and interference problems.
  • Provide network management, systems administration and technical services for automated systems.
  • Develop and recommend implementation of policies and procedures covering telecommunications requirements and specifications.
  • Ensure the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services.
  • Articulate and communicate to the team the assignment, project, problems to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion.
  • Serve as technical point of contact for Satellite Communication (SATCOM) Wideband Systems and provide a support avenue for various base communications.
  • Maintain overall Software and Hardware Configuration for the Node, change passwords, and lead test events.
  • Plan and coordinate the test activities for the Independent Validation and Verification team members.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Coordinating test activities related to networking functions, protocols, physical interfaces and products over large and small networks; 2) Integrating policies and procedures for control of telecommunications systems and components; 3) Evaluating telecommunications systems to ensure user requirements are met in terms of system capabilities; and 4) Providing training on new telecommunications equipment and refresher courses on existing equipment.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
