About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Technology Risk Officer. The Technology Risk Officer operates within Technology Risk Management (TRM), part of Corporate Risk, providing independent second line oversight of enterprise technology risk exposure. The role is part of a team responsible for integrating risk information across technology domains, business functions, risk programs, and external sources to develop enterprise-level risk perspectives. Through continuous monitoring, scenario analysis, thematic assessments, and risk intelligence activities, the team produces evidence-based insights that inform senior management, Board and Risk Committee reporting, regulatory engagement, and strategic risk decisions. The role partners across Technology, Operational Risk, Information Security, Business Aligned Risk, and Corporate Risk functions to identify emerging risks, challenge assumptions, and improve understanding of technology risk concentrations, trends, and systemic exposures.
The Lead Technology Risk Officer serves as an independent risk advisor responsible for developing enterprise technology risk insights through the integration of operational, risk, governance, and external intelligence. The role identifies emerging risk themes, evaluates systemic technology risk conditions, and provides credible challenge and independent perspectives that support executive decision making, strategic planning, governance activities, and regulatory engagement.
In this role, you will:
Integrate operational, risk, business, governance, and external intelligence to develop enterprise technology risk perspectives.
Assess technology risk trends, plausible technology failure events, systemic conditions, emerging threats, and interconnected risk drivers across infrastructure, platforms, applications, cloud environments, and emerging technologies.
Evaluate the impacts of and provide independent perspectives on technology innovation, cloud adoption, Frontier AI, modernization, transformation, and external market developments on enterprise risk exposure.
Monitor technology risk indicators, operational performance, incidents, control effectiveness, and external threat intelligence to identify changing risk conditions.
Participate in technology risk scenario analysis involving disruption, resiliency failures, operational breakdowns, cloud migration, transformation initiatives, and emerging technologies.
Develop independent risk opinions and thought leadership positions on strategic initiatives, transformation programs, cloud and AI adoption, and other material technology risks.
Provide independent perspectives on governance, security, operational resilience, and risk management considerations associated with Frontier AI and other emerging technologies.
Produce executive risk briefings, risk opinions, thematic assessments, and enterprise technology risk narratives that support decision-making through evidence-based analysis and independent perspectives.
Enhance risk sensing, monitoring, scenario analysis, and enterprise technology risk assessment capabilities through continuous improvement of methodologies and frameworks.
Foster collaboration across Risk, Technology, Cybersecurity, Operational Risk, Business Risk, and Strategy organizations to deliver high-quality risk insights
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Technology Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
Deep understanding of technology risk management, operational resilience, technology operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise technology environments.
Experience evaluating complex technology risk scenarios and developing independent risk perspectives.
Demonstrated ability to synthesize large volumes of information into actionable executive-level insights.
Experience developing risk opinions, scenario analyses, thematic reviews, or enterprise risk assessments.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns, trends, dependencies, and systemic risk conditions.
Experience supporting risk committees, executive management, regulatory engagements, or governance forums.
Ability to influence outcomes through credible challenge, constructive engagement, and evidence-based recommendations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of executive-level risk reporting materials.
