Auria is looking to hire a Lead Systems Engineer to support projects with the US Space Force. This role is remote but with a location preference of Colorado Springs, CO.
Support of a broad range of solutions spanning from foundational cloud computing infrastructure to mission-specific software applications and software development services to include, but are not limited to: Advanced cloud-native infrastructure and services; Scalable and secure platform solutions; Agile software development methodologies and tooling; Mission-driven C2 applications; Data integration, management, and visualization capabilities; and Artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML); and Cybersecurity and zero-trust architecture.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:- Requirements and Design - Lead the design, development, and integration of assigned systems, using a strong understanding of stakeholder needs and requirements to ensure reliability, scalability, and maintainability. Develop system architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams, and detailed design specifications.
- Integration and Testing - Oversee the execution of system testing strategies, including unit, integration, and performance tests to validate that the system functions as intended and meets specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve system issues to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
- Documentation and Communication - Produce essential system documentation and effectively communicate complex technical details to various stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding.
- Risk and Performance Management - Identify potential system risks, devise mitigation strategies, and monitor system performance metrics, making adjustments as needed.
- Collaboration and Continuous Improvement - Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, stay updated with industry trends, and incorporate feedback for ongoing system refinement. Liaise with stakeholders, including customers and end-users, to gather feedback and ensure the system meets operational requirements.
WHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:- Current U.S. Government TOP SECRET security clearance (requires U.S. Citizenship) and SCI eligibility
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field.
- 7+ years of related systems engineering experience on DoD/federal programs, including software development, solution delivery, or system integration projects.
- Proven experience in design and deployment of large-scale, complex space systems using strong knowledge of software development life cycles, system architecture, and design principles.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a capacity to predict, identify, and solve issues efficiently with minimal oversight from program management.
- Ability to create clear and comprehensive system documentation, including design descriptions, requirements specifications, test plans, user guides, and other engineering documents.
- Familiarity with DOD space systems and subsystems, including systems, products, and interfaces across ground and space components.
- Extensive experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including using Cameo, SysML, other and industry-standard MBSE methodologies to develop and document complex system architectures and requirements.
- Familiarity with other engineering disciplines (systems, hardware, test, configuration management, and quality engineering) and how they interact with software engineering.
- Excellent verbal, written, communication, and interpersonal skills that provide the capability to work independently and within a team.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team using tools to assist system development, such as Jira and Confluence.
- Proficiency with M.S. Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

WHAT THE TEAM PREFERS: - Experience leading system development and validation testing for prototypes with limited requirements and direction from program management.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing technologies and methodologies in space and communication systems.
- Holds MBSE certification, which may include SysML Object Management Group (OMG), Model Builder Fundamental (MBF), Model Builder Intermediate (MBI) or Model Builder Advance (MBA) Certification.
- 3+ years experience designing, modeling, and implementing DOD space systems and subsystems, including systems, products, and interfaces across ground and space components.
- Experience performing other engineering disciplines (systems, hardware, test, configuration management, and quality engineering) and interacting with software engineering in that role.

PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level. $145,000 - $170,000
