Full Job Description
Eaton's IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Lead Sustaining Electrical Engineer. This is a Full Time (M-F Daylight) onsite role, based at our Grand Rapids location. The Grand Rapids facility has approximately 170 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacturing and delivery of Aerospace actuations & controls components, systems, and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $93750.03 - $137500.04 a year.

What you'll do:

Job Summary
Reports to Sustaining Engineering Manager. The incumbent will lead momentum product improvement initiatives and support troubleshooting and root cause corrective action activities for field and production issues. Assignments will be predominantly focused on reliability and quality improvements of Eaton's Grand Rapids products, which would include but is not limited to motor controllers, DC motors, electrical circuit boards, electromechanical actuators, and other related components. Responsibilities include troubleshooting of electronic hardware at the component level and supporting management of electrical component obsolescence. Additionally, the incumbent is expected to provide technical support to the operations personnel, procurement group, and customers as required.
Job Responsibilities
  • Drive product improvements through engineering analysis, redesign and testing of electromechanical actuators and system hardware.
  • Sustain product viability through proactive evaluation and redesign of hardware with obsolete components.
  • Develop test plans, specifications and general test procedures for requalification activities; coordinate requalification testing, advise laboratory personnel supporting efforts, evaluate test results, and develop test reports.
  • Support Printed Wire Assembly (PWA) Supplier transfer initiatives.
  • Redesign Printed Wiring Assembly (PWA) to support Reliability, Maintainability, and Upgradability (RMU) initiatives.
  • Work with Supply Chain, Customer Service and High Performance work teams (HPWT) to support and drive cost reduction initiatives and promote growth through product reliability and quality improvements.
  • Support customer service product inquiries. Read and interpret internal, industrial and customer product specifications and make recommendations for enhancements based on engineering analysis and field data.
  • Support FRACAS system development, tracking, and metric development.
  • Develop Fault Isolation Manuals for operations team to troubleshoot electrical components.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Provide mentorship to engineers and technicians with respect to electrical troubleshooting.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in electrical engineering role
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

Preferred Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of electrical engineering principles
• Electrical product design, electrical component selection, and evaluation experience
• Experience working with electronic products including but not limited to motor controllers, DC motors, actuators, electrical circuit boards, and electromechanical components
• Experience troubleshooting electronic hardware
• Circuit analysis skills (ability to read wiring schematics, identify critical elements and troubleshoot electronic circuits).
• Ability to support management with electrical component obsolescence
