Job Title: Lead, Structural Engineering - ODA Unit Member

Job Description:

Come join the L3Harris ODA as an Engineering Unit Member in the aircraft structures group. This role involves reviewing and approving aircraft modification engineering and repairs on behalf of the FAA. An extensive background in aircraft structural analysis and exposure to a wide range of aircraft structural modifications is required. Current FAA delegations, either through an ODA or as an FAA DER is preferred.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for technical approval of structural aspects of aircraft modification and repairs, including drawings and substantiation reports.
  • Responsible for coordinating certification activities with other structures Unit Members, other disciplines in the certification team, and with the engineering organizations seeking certification.
  • Responsible for reviewing engineering drawings and reports to determine compliance with applicable criteria, including coordination with engineering to address deficiencies.
  • Must be able to travel as required (estimated 10% or less)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Preferred degree majors: Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Preferred to have current FAA delegations in the structures discipline as either a DER or an ODA Unit Member.

Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Experience with both metallic and composite structure is preferred.
  • Experience with both civil certification and military certification is preferred.
