Full Job Description

About this role:

The Lead Consultant will support the Head of WIM Strategy, the Strategy leadership team, and WIM business leaders in shaping business innovation, growth opportunities, and strategic priorities across the wealth and investment management ecosystem and will own the analysis and recommendations that advance business transformation and position WIM for sustainable long-term growth in an evolving competitive and regulatory environment.

The Lead Consultant will own strategy workstreams from problem definition through executive recommendation and will be the primary builder of the analytics and executive materials that WIM leadership decides from. They will work directly with and support members of the WIM Operating Committee and their teams, and will provide guidance to less experienced colleagues.

The successful candidate brings a strong understanding of the wealth management and investment industry — client segments, advisor models, platform capabilities, investment products, regulatory considerations, and the competitive landscape — combined with the management consultant’s toolkit: structured problem solving, critical thinking, quantitative rigor, and concise executive communication. Candidates may enter strong on either the consulting toolkit or wealth management domain depth and develop the other. Critical success factors include working effectively in a matrixed organization, building partnerships across business and functional areas, and influencing without authority, with a sense of urgency and personal accountability for results.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the development of assigned strategic plans and analyses that position WIM for long-term growth, and draft assigned sections and build the exhibits for the WIM annual strategic plan and strategy presentations for the Board of Directors and Investor Day.

  • Support the long-term (3–5 year) strategic vision and growth plan for assigned WIM businesses, encompassing advisory, brokerage, digital and self-directed wealth, deposits, lending, and trust.

  • Own workstreams within the digital and self-directed wealth strategy, including client segmentation, the self-directed-to-advised funnel, pricing and digital engagement economics, and the analysis behind build, buy, or partner recommendations.

  • Own workstreams within the workplace wealth strategy across stock plan, equity compensation, and retirement offerings, and support diligence, economics, and negotiation of partnership agreements with Legal, Risk, Finance, Product, and Corporate Development partners.

  • Own the analysis and business case for growth in deposits, securities-based and mortgage lending, and trust and fiduciary relationships, including cash and sweep economics, client primacy, and channel-level opportunity sizing.

  • Evaluate options for emerging areas including digital assets, assessing regulatory developments, competitor moves, and client demand, including intangible and unprecedented factors.

  • Identify and size AI-enabled organizational efficiency opportunities across WIM, and partner with business owners to convert them into implementable changes.

  • Develop competitive and market intelligence on evolving client expectations, advisor needs, regulatory developments, and technology innovations, benchmarking across wealth managers, RIAs, asset managers, digital wealth platforms, private banks, and fintech entrants.

  • Support alignment and coordination with firmwide and cross-LOB objectives, including with Consumer Banking and Lending, Commercial Banking, Corporate and Investment Banking, and Corporate Strategy.

  • Build the analytics that decisions rest on — market and competitor sizing, client and advisor economics, business cases, and scenario models — with the driver logic explicit and reviewable.

  • Use AI agents and tooling as the default method for research, modeling, competitive monitoring, and presentation development, and help improve the team’s toolchain.

  • Communicate insights, strategic recommendations, and execution roadmaps clearly to senior leaders and stakeholders across WIM.

  • Make decisions in complex situations that influence and lead the broader work team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives and provide guidance to less experienced staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Strategy and Planning experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressively increasing responsibility across management consulting, corporate strategy, product strategy, or a wealth management product, field, or finance role.

  • The management consultant’s toolkit, structured problem solving, critical thinking, quantitativi rigor, and concise executive communication or wealth management domain depth; candidates may enter strong on one dimension and develop the other.

  • An innovation mindset with the ability to leverage emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to accelerate business performance, evidenced by AI agents or workflows the candidate has built into how work gets done.

  • Exposure to one or more of: digital and self-directed wealth; partnerships, corporate development, or M&A; workplace wealth including stock plan and retirement; deposit, lending, and trust growth within a wealth channel; digital assets; operational and process improvement.

  • Advanced quantitative modeling skills and the ability to produce executive-quality materials without a supporting analyst.

  • Experience developing product, capability, or investment roadmaps and translating strategic priorities into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.

  • Experience contributing to Board of Directors or Investor Day strategy materials, or to an annual strategic planning cycle.

  • Experience operating in a large-scale, complex matrixed organization, and influencing without authority.

  • Ability to bring structure to ambiguity, prioritize independently, and follow through in a fast-moving environment.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a track record of converting insights into actionable plans, and excellent written and verbal communication across audiences and levels.
