Role Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Open Source Support Engineer to manage and support developer interactions across GitHub repositories and community channels. The role focuses on first-line triage, issue resolution, and developer engagement, ensuring timely handling of OSS issues while collaborating closely with engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Provide first-line support for open-source (OSS) issues across GitHub repositories
Triaging issues: analyze, reproduce, and classify bugs, feature requests, and queries
Review and manage incoming pull requests (PRs), ensuring completeness and alignment with contribution guidelines
Engage with developer community via GitHub, forums, and chat channels to provide timely responses and updates
Escalate complex or critical issues to Google engineering teams with proper context and reproduction steps
Maintain issue hygiene: tagging, prioritization, deduplication, and lifecycle tracking
Contribute to improving documentation, FAQs, and playbooks based on recurring issues
Monitor trends and provide insights on developer pain points and product feedback
Core Requirements (Must Have)
Strong hands-on experience with:
Linux/Unix environments (CLI-based workflows)
HTML, JavaScript, CSS (debugging and issue analysis)
Experience working with GitHub (Issues, PRs, repo management)
Strong understanding of web technologies and frontend debugging
Ability to reproduce issues, analyze logs, and troubleshoot effectively
Excellent written communication skills for developer-facing interactions
Nice to Have
Experience supporting open-source projects or developer platforms
Familiarity with:
CI/CD pipelines and build systems
Node.js ecosystem / frontend frameworks (React, Angular, etc.)
Exposure to cloud environments (GCP preferred)
Understanding of API integrations and backend workflows
