POSITION SUMMARYThe Lead Engineer serves as a hands-on technical leader, driving the design and delivery of complex, cross-functional initiatives. This role balances advanced technical execution with team mentorship and coordination, ensuring engineering excellence and high-quality delivery across frontend and backend domains.
This role will be on-site in Appleton, WI.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIESEssential Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable and maintainable software solutions across multiple technology stacks.
- Serve as the primary technical owner for complex features, services, or modules.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers across the team, ensuring high code quality and adherence to best practices.
- Partner with product, UX, and architecture to align technical solutions with business goals.
- Lead design reviews, code reviews, and contribute to improving engineering standards and patterns.
- Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to ensure operational excellence.

QUALIFICATIONSRequired:
- 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
- Proven hands-on experience in both backend and frontend engineering.
- Advanced proficiency in at least one backend language and one frontend framework.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and system design.
Preferred:
- Experience influencing technical strategy beyond a single team.
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, microservices, and distributed systems.
