Position Title: LEAD SCHEDULER
Location: HOUSTON, TX
FLSA Class: EXEMPT
Responsible to: SR. PROJECT CONTROLS MANAGER

Position Summary: The Lead Project Scheduler is responsible for leading the planning, development, maintenance, and oversight of integrated project schedules across multiple large-scale construction and energy infrastructure projects. This role serves as a strategic partner to project leadership by providing schedule governance, critical path analysis, forecasting, and risk assessments that enable informed decision-making and successful project execution.The Lead Project Scheduler works closely with executive leadership, project managers, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure projects are planned and executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. This individual will establish scheduling standards, drive schedule quality, identify execution risks, and provide recommendations to improve overall project performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and manage integrated master schedules for multiple concurrent capital projects from engineering through commissioning and closeout.
  • Lead project scheduling strategy using Primavera P6 and other industry-standard planning tools.
  • Develop resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules where applicable to support forecasting and project controls.
  • Perform critical path, float, productivity, earned value, and schedule variance analyses to identify project risks and opportunities.
  • Partner with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Engineering, Procurement, and executive leadership to develop realistic execution plans and recovery strategies.
  • Facilitate schedule review meetings and present schedule health, milestone status, forecasts, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Monitor project and contractor schedule performance through regular schedule updates, schedule narratives, variance analysis, critical path reviews, and look-ahead schedules. Proactively identify schedule impact delays, interface issues, and execution risks, assess their potential impact on key project milestones, and recommend corrective actions to maintain project objectives.
  • Evaluate contractor and subcontractor schedules for accuracy, logic, completeness, resource loading, sequencing, critical path integrity, and compliance with project requirements, contract obligations, and scheduling standards.
  • Integrate contractor and subcontractor schedules into the project master schedule, ensuring appropriate alignment of activities, milestones, interfaces, constraints, and dependencies across all project scopes and contractors. Identify and resolve schedule conflicts, gaps, and interface issues to maintain a fully integrated and reliable project schedule.
  • Support project budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and overall project controls initiatives.
  • Develop schedule performance metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting to communicate project status across the organization.
  • Establish and continuously improve scheduling standards, procedures, and best practices across the project portfolio.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior schedulers and project controls personnel.
  • Support claims analysis, change management, time impact analyses, and schedule documentation when required.
  • Participate in project planning sessions including constructability reviews, execution planning, and risk workshops.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related discipline. Equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 8-12 years of project scheduling or project controls experience supporting large industrial, energy, EPC, oil & gas, power generation, data center, or heavy construction projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Acumen Fuse, Oracle Primavera Cloud, Power BI, or similar project controls software is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of master schedule integration, CPM scheduling methodologies, resource planning, earned value management, forecasting, and project controls principles.
  • Experience supporting projects through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup phases.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, construction sequencing, procurement schedules, and commissioning plans.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex project information to executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive accountability without direct authority.
  • PMP, PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional), or other project controls certifications are preferred.
  • Experience supporting power generation, microgrid, renewable energy, oil & gas, or large industrial construction projects.
  • Knowledge of cost controls, estimating, and integrated project controls.
  • Experience developing executive dashboards and portfolio-level reporting.
  • Familiarity with EPC project execution methodologies and contractor management
