What is the opportunity?

We are looking for a highly experienced Quality Engineering (QE) Lead to drive Quality Engineering practices and test automation excellence for Emerging Payments application within RBC Technology.

This is a high-visibility role with direct business impact. You will lead a team of QA Engineers managing end-to-end testing across complex, interconnected systems, collaborating with business stakeholders and application teams to ensure high-quality testing deliverables.

The successful candidate will work closely with Emerging Payments development teams, architects, DevOps teams, Product Owners, and technology partners to improve engineering efficiency, automation coverage, quality, and reliability.

What will you do?
  • Lead and execute quality assurance and automation testing activities with a strong background in modern testing frameworks and cloud-based applications.
  • Define and implement end-to-end QE and test automation strategies covering functional, integration, API, regression, and system integration testing.
  • Validate API Functionality: Test RESTful, or SOAP endpoints against technical design specifications to ensure they return correct HTTP responses and status codes.
  • Payload Verification: Inspect, validate, and manipulate request and response data payloads, primarily focusing on JSON and XML formats.
  • Automation Engineering: Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for component integration and regression testing using industry-standard API frameworks.
  • Integration & Database Verification: Write complex SQL queries to interact with databases, verifying that backend API calls mutate or retrieve data accurately.
  • Security & Auth Validation: Test endpoint access control mechanisms, including API keys, OAuth2 protocols, and JWT token-based authorization.
  • Performance Testing: Execute load, stress, and concurrency tests on endpoints to determine system behavior under peak traffic and measure response times or error rates.
  • Defect Life Cycle: Track, document, and report backend issues using project management software, providing complete log traces and steps to reproduce.
  • Agile Collaboration: Participate actively in sprint planning, refinement sessions, and stand-ups to ensure API testability is addressed early in the SDLC.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills. Mentor team members on automation best practices. Demonstrated ability to deliver results under tight deadlines.


What do you need to succeed?

Must Have
  • 8+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, software engineering, or test automation, with a core focus on backend and API testing.
  • 2+ years of Test automation experience using testing tools like Iliad
  • Experience with functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, and API testing.
  • Hands-on experience designing and maintaining test automation frameworks.
  • Working on API automation using Test-NG Framework on a Hybrid Automation framework.
  • Automation Tools & Frameworks: Selenium WebDriver, Provar (Salesforce automation), WebDriverIO, Appium, SahiPro, BDD frameworks (Cucumber, TestNG).
  • REST API Testing Tools: REST Assured, Postman, ReadyAPI.
  • Core API Tools: Advanced proficiency with Postman, Swagger and SoapUI.
  • Programming Languages: Basic programming or scripting (.NET, C#).
  • Database Management: Strong command of relational or NoSQL (CosmosDB) databases to manipulate and verify mock data sets.
  • Protocols & Concepts: Solid understanding of HTTP protocols, status codes, microservice architecture, and concurrency handling.
  • M.Sc. or B. E. or B. Tech in Information Technology or related field


Nice to have
  • Experience within financial services or insurance technology.
  • Experience with performance engineering and performance test automation.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipeline integration.
  • Agile/Scrum/Test Automation certifications
