Full Job Description
We are looking for Lead Project Schedulers to support our client, a major U.S. utility to help in delivering schedules for some of the largest and most complex capital projects in the electric sector. In this Scheduler role, you will contribute to maintaining the integrity and performance of project schedules across a multibillion-dollar capital portfolio. You will collaborate closely with project directors, project managers, engineers, and project controls teams to develop, update, and monitor detailed schedules, forecasts, and progress metrics. Your work strengthens visibility, coordination, and on-time delivery for a portfolio of 10-20 major electric infrastructure projects valued between $8-$10 billion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain Primavera P6 schedules across a portfolio of transmission line, distribution line and substation projects using predefined templates (from initiation through closeout) aligned to scope, WBS, milestones, and regulatory/contract constraints; establish baseline and coding standards across the portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain resource-loaded Primavera P6 schedules, ensuring labor, engineering, contractor, and key project resources are accurately planned and aligned with project milestones and portfolio priorities.
  • Analyze resource demand, capacity constraints, and forecasted workloads across multiple projects to identify conflicts, optimize utilization, and support portfolio-level decision making.
  • Perform routine project updates (weekly/biweekly/monthly), run CPM calculations, and conduct critical path, float, variance, and trend analyses; produce look-ahead reports, and milestone tracking.
  • Track schedule performance with earned value metrics (SPI/CPI) and contribute to recovery plans when milestones are at risk; publish portfolio and project control reports for leadership and clients.
  • Identify schedule risks, run what-if scenarios and propose mitigations; support change management processes and schedule QA/QC checks.
  • Lead and participate in weekly schedule and resource review meetings with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders; communicate schedule conflicts, resource constraints, and recommended corrective actions clearly and promptly.
  • Collaborate with procurement and legal teams to embed Project Controls processes into Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and contracts, ensuring alignment of scheduling, cost tracking, and reporting requirements from the outset
  • Review and assess bidders' proposals for adherence to Project Controls criteria-such as WBS/CBS alignment, schedule baselines, and change management protocols-and make recommendations based on compliance.
  • Serve as the Project Controls liaison during contract award and execution phases, verifying that awarded contractors implement agreed Project Controls processes (schedule updates, EVM metrics, delay logs) and escalate any deviations for corrective action.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required, Masters degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of work experience in Project Controls, Project Management, or Scheduling required.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel-VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
  • Demonstrated experience with resource-loaded scheduling, resource forecasting, and capacity planning in Primavera P6 or similar enterprise scheduling tools.
  • Experience balancing resource demands across multiple concurrent projects within a large capital portfolio.
  • Understanding of workforce planning, contractor resource management, and resource optimization methodologies is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM), float analysis, and schedule risk analysis.
  • Experience specifically with large-scale capital projects (utility, construction, or infrastructure) is highly valued.
  • Procore experience a plus
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
