Job Description

As a Lead Project Engineer - Aerospace Actuation Systems, you will play a key role in the development of next-generation electro-mechanical actuation systems used on defense and advanced aircraft platforms. You will lead technical execution across the full product lifecycle-from requirements development and system design through validation, qualification, and production support-while also driving project performance, cost, schedule, and risk management.

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys both solving complex technical challenges and leading cross-functional teams to deliver successful program outcomes.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership
  • Lead the design, development, integration, and verification of electro-mechanical actuation systems for aerospace applications.
  • Translate customer and system requirements into technical solutions and engineering deliverables.
  • Support system architecture, requirements management, design reviews, and technical trade studies.
  • Develop and execute validation and verification activities, including development and qualification testing.
  • Analyze test data, investigate failures, and lead root-cause and corrective action activities.
  • Evaluate compliance with customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop technical documentation including test plans, procedures, reports, and engineering assessments.

Project Leadership
  • Lead execution of engineering programs from concept development through production transition.
  • Manage project cost, schedule, milestones, and technical performance.
  • Utilize project management tools and processes to monitor progress and drive successful execution.
  • Identify, assess, and manage technical, schedule, and program risks and opportunities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities with systems, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Interface directly with customers and suppliers to communicate technical status, resolve issues, and build strong working relationships.
  • Support proposal development, including technical planning, resource estimation, and schedule development.

Why You'll Love This Role
  • Work on flight-critical aerospace technologies that support advanced aircraft programs.
  • Influence product development across the entire engineering lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with highly skilled multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Balance deep technical problem-solving with project and program leadership responsibilities.
  • Gain visibility with customers, business leaders, and engineering leadership while driving strategic aerospace initiatives.

  • 8+ years of engineering experience in product development, systems engineering, aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial automation, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical projects, programs, or engineering work packages.
  • Experience managing project deliverables, schedules, priorities, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience communicating technical information to customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience with requirements development, system integration, verification, validation, testing, and technical problem-solving.

We Value

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, cost management, schedule management, and risk management.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
  • Validation & Verification (V&V) or qualification testing experience.
  • Manufacturing, production support, or design for manufacturability experience.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong systems-thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to influence and lead within a matrixed engineering environment.
