Full Job Description
If you are an engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an opportunity for you! Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will implement fast-paced, time-sensitive scroll compressor development projects for Residential Air Conditioning products. This role is for someone with a passion for new product engineering and development, along with teamwork, project management, customer communication, and problem-solving skills. You will lead the evaluation, maturation, and development of scroll compression technologies focused on best-in-world efficiency and optimized for a new generation of environmentally friendly refrigerants.

AS A LEAD PROJECT ENGINEER, YOU WILL:

  • Lead the development of fixed speed residential scroll compressors from early prototyping through final product release, coordinating prototyping, testing, and validation activities

  • Provide technical leadership, critical thinking, and independent engineering expertise to global, cross-functional product development teams

  • Mentor and support less experienced engineers throughout the new product development process

  • Utilize company analytical tools and DFMEA methodologies to identify technical risks, optimize product performance, reliability, and drive qualification plans

  • Collaborate with design, advanced manufacturing, and other technical teams to resolve design challenges and ensure product requirements are met

  • Develop and manage technical project timelines, milestones, and deliverables while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, quality requirements, and regulatory expectations

  • Present technical data and project updates to internal and external customers, communicate effectively across all organizational levels, and support the integration of Lean principles into the new product development process

SCHEDULE:

This is a first-shift, onsite position with a flexible start time. While this department primarily work onsite, occasional work-from-home days may be available when needed and aligned with business requirements.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Bachelor of Science Degreein Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology or equivalent.

  • 7+ yearsexperience with new product development through a systematic product release process

  • Prior experience with compressors or other rotating machinery

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this position

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

  • Ability to set plans and understand results to drive engineering decisions

  • Ability to lead and mentor less experienced engineers

  • Ability and desire to solve technical problems using structured problem-solving methods

  • Experience with scroll compressor design and development

  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and HVAC principals

  • Works effectively in a collaborative team environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
