Role SummaryAs a Lead Program Manager (Product Planning) you will play a critical role in defining Rivian vehicle product plan and long-term product roadmap for the next 5-7 years. You will work cross functionally to drive direction and consensus and help define things such as content offering, options, pricing, demand, and vehicle variants. You will be instrumental in ensuring a cohesive and strategic product vision across the organization.
Responsibilities- Maintain comprehensive product plan and lifecycle roadmap, including details on vehicle variants, price, content, for all Rivian Automotive products.
- Track product performance, feedback and market reception to inform and prioritize product updates.
- Support concept exploration and feature alignment across design, engineering, and operations.
- Conduct in-depth studies and analyses to understand the implications of proposed product changes across all business functions (e.g., engineering, operations, finance, supply chain, manufacturing).
- Develop and present competitive benchmarking information to decision makers, encompassing competitor pricing strategies, market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities and threats.
- Perform market research on price and volume studies using industry tools including volume sensitivity and demand elasticity analysis
- Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, engineering, and operations teams to establish and maintain a single source of truth for all product plan data and assumptions.
- Partner with technical, engineering, and operations teams (internal and external) to align product roadmap with technological advancements and capabilities.
- Support strategic problem-solving related to product sequencing, market opportunities, and resource optimization to enable transformative progress in vehicle capabilities and business growth.
- Champion a culture of operational excellence, data integrity, financial rigor, and cross-team collaboration that differentiates Rivian's product development and delivery.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a relevant technical field (Master's or MBA strongly preferred).
- 5+ years of progressive experience in program management, with substantial experience in product roadmap development, strategic planning, business operations, and financial planning-ideally gained within automotive, electric vehicles, or advanced product development /consumer goods sectors.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale and complex strategic planning initiatives and operational and financial planning throughout the full product lifecycle.
- Advanced analytical and financial skills, including experience with program budgeting, business case analysis, and cost/benefit modeling for major product initiatives.
- Track record of delivering measurable results in cross-functional environments, driving projects that balance technical ambition, business operations excellence, and financial sustainability.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and executive presentation skills; able to convey complex product, technical, and financial information to diverse audiences, including C-suite stakeholders.
- Familiarity with advanced program management, business operations, automotive, and financial planning tools (MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Lucid, Tableau, ERP systems, JD Power PIN, etc.).
- Collaborative, data-driven, and passionate about product strategy and commercial impact and able to develop collaborative relationships.
- Comfortable in a dynamic, rapidly evolving environment with high expectations for strategic and financial outcomes.
Pay DisclosureSalary Range for California Based Applicants: $154,000-$192,500 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
The salary range for this role is USD $154,000-$192,500 for SoCal based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.
The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
