Overall Purpose: Design, develop, operate technology solutions in support of a Marketing or Product Organization.
Lead the strategy, architecture, governance, and operational execution of AT&T's customer messaging channels, including SMS, RCS, Push Notifications, and emerging communication technologies. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable, compliant, and scalable customer communications while driving innovation and integration across the broader marketing technology ecosystem.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Typical tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Messaging Channel Strategy & Ownership
- Define and execute the roadmap for SMS, RCS, Push Notifications, and future messaging capabilities.
- Evaluate emerging messaging technologies, industry trends, and customer engagement opportunities.
- Develop business cases and strategic recommendations for new channel capabilities and enhancements.
Platform Architecture & Integration
- Lead the design and integration of messaging platforms with customer engagement and marketing technology ecosystems.
- Partner with product, engineering, marketing, and data teams to enable seamless customer communications across channels.
- Support integration of messaging capabilities with platforms such as Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO), customer data platforms, campaign management systems, and related technologies.
Operational Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day messaging operations supporting customer acquisition, onboarding, engagement, retention, and service communications.
- Ensure delivery reliability, throughput management, monitoring, issue resolution, and operational readiness across messaging channels.
- Establish processes, controls, and governance to support business-critical communications.
Vendor & Carrier Management
- Manage strategic relationships with messaging vendors, platform providers, aggregators, and carrier partners.
- Drive vendor performance, service delivery, contract alignment, and issue resolution.
- Coordinate with mobile carriers and external partners to support messaging programs, provisioning activities, and channel expansion initiatives.
Compliance, Risk & Governance
- Ensure messaging programs comply with industry regulations, carrier requirements, privacy standards, and corporate policies.
- Establish governance frameworks, operational controls, and audit processes to minimize risk.
- Partner with legal, compliance, privacy, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders to support regulatory readiness.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Leadership
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for customer messaging technologies and communication channels.
- Partner with marketing, product, technology, legal, and customer experience teams to align messaging capabilities with business objectives.
- Communicate strategy, risks, performance, and recommendations to leadership and executive stakeholders.
Performance Optimization & Innovation
- Monitor channel performance, delivery metrics, and customer engagement trends.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer experience, efficiency, scalability, and operational effectiveness.
- Drive innovation through automation, AI-enabled capabilities, and next-generation customer communication technologies.

Independently leads complex strategic and operational initiatives that impact multiple business functions. Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) desired.
- 5+ years of experience in product technology, customer communications, marketing technology, messaging platforms, telecommunications, or related fields.
- Experience managing or supporting SMS, RCS, Push Notifications, customer engagement platforms, or communication technologies preferred.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving technology, operations, product management, vendors, and business stakeholders.
- Knowledge of messaging regulations, carrier ecosystems, communications platforms, customer engagement technologies, and digital marketing solutions is highly desirable.
