Job OverviewThe Process Engineering Lead is the technical authority for the Polymer additive manufacturing technologies within the Hubbell Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence. This role is responsible for developing, qualifying, and scaling additive manufacturing processes from technology development through production deployment.
The successful candidate will lead process development, optimization, validation, and continuous improvement efforts to establish robust, repeatable, and production-ready manufacturing capabilities. As the primary process owner, they will define operating standards, process controls, and data-driven strategies that ensure consistent quality, productivity, and performance. The role will also manage the related 3D printing operators, providing day-to-day technical leadership and mentorship, to drive operational excellence and adherence to manufacturing best practices.
This position requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate development activities into scalable manufacturing solutions. The role works closely with Applications Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Operations to align process decisions with business, quality, cost, and production objectives.

- Serve as the subject matter expert and process owner for [Binder Jet / Metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion / Polymer] 3D printing technologies.
- Manage the polymer 3D printing operators in daily production activities, troubleshooting, and process execution.
- Own process development, optimization, qualification, validation, and production readiness.
- Define and maintain process parameters, operating windows, and control strategies to ensure process capability and repeatability.
- Improve yield, quality, productivity, and manufacturability through data-driven analysis and structured problem solving.
- Establish standards for process control, material characterization, equipment operation, and technical documentation.
- Manage process data, including traceability, analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead qualification and validation efforts for materials, equipment, and processes, including IQ/OQ/PQ, PPAP, and related activities.
- Investigate process deviations and build failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Support equipment commissioning, upgrades, and deployment of new manufacturing capabilities.
- Provide technical leadership across multiple projects, balancing business priorities, technical risk, and manufacturing readiness.
- Communicate recommendations, risks, and project outcomes to stakeholders.

- 3-5 years prior experience in Manufacturing Engineering with proven leadership and management abilities.
- Experience developing, optimizing, and qualifying additive manufacturing processes in a manufacturing environment.
- Deep expertise in polymer 3D printing technologies, including equipment, materials, and process interactions.
- Strong knowledge of statistical methods, process validation, capability analysis, and manufacturing quality systems.
- Experience with IQ/OQ/PQ, PPAP, FMEA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage process and machine data to improve quality, yield, and operational performance.
- Strong technical leadership, communication, and mentoring skills in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
