Full Job Description
The role of Pipe Stress Lead Engineer is responsible for analyzing and evaluating the design and performance of piping systems for ATF (Advanced Technological Facilities) projects on Ultrapure water, Wastewater, Bulk Gases, Specialty Gases, and Process Chemicals. This role serves as the point of contact and supports the pipe stress engineers and designers, establishes project specific PSA (Pipe Stress Analysis) requirements and PSA procedures, and develops comprehensive pipe stress reports.

Pipe Stress Analysis:
• Serve as the main point of contact and supports a team of engineers for the following activities:
o Develop static and dynamic piping models.
o Analyzing system stresses using pipe stress analysis software
o Designing piping support components.
o Evaluating nozzle loads.
o Collaborating with other departments.
o Reviewing vendor documents.

Communication:
• Communicate, guide, and instruct employees across different departments at varying levels within the organization, including Process and Mechanical Engineers.
• Identify and resolve knowledge gaps.

Project Delivery:
• Hold the BIM team accountable for owning the pipe routing based on P&IDs provided by Process Engineering Team.
• Establish Criteria for levels of stress analysis to be completed based on building code and best practice design requirements.
• Complete PSA on piping, where required, and provide instruction on support requirements.
• Develop final reports of PSA to be provided with final piping plans.
• Responsible for developing budgets and maintaining forecasts for work.

Procedures:
• Establish and maintain procedures for PSA including developing templates for Pipe Stress Reports and Developing checklists for stress analysis.
• Establish methodical procedure for modeling and PSA.
• Establish deliverables to and from Piping team.

Pipe Modeling Support
• Work with BIM Design team to establish routing criteria for piping systems. Provide instruction on locations requiring additional flexibility or loops early in design.
• Review designs and provide guidance for pipe routing. Identify locations for shared racking supports and assist with space planning.

  • 8 year's experience in pipe stress


Preferred
  • Professional Engineer
  • 10 year's experience in pipe stress
  • Experience with plastic piping systems
