As we continue expanding our operations globally, we are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Lead Operations Accountant to join our growing Finance team in Calgary. This role is ideal for a CPA who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and enjoys leading operational accounting processes, improving efficiencies, and partnering cross-functionally across the business. This role reports to the Controller. Responsibilities What You’ll Be Doing• Review monthly SOX-compliant salary and wage reconciliations, including related accruals.• Review consolidated reconciliations for deferred revenue and prepaid accounts.• Review and approve deferred revenue and prepaid journal entries.• Oversee fixed asset accounting for retail stores, e-commerce operations, and international entities.• Review IFRS 16 lease accounting for a rapidly growing portfolio of retail stores, warehouses, and international operations.• Review consolidated intercompany reconciliations and OCI workbooks to ensure accuracy and completeness.• Partner closely with Treasury to coordinate timely intercompany settlements and accurate accounting entries.• Support and guide the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely monthly close deliverables.• Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate variance analysis and financial reporting.• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.• Support quarterly and annual audit requests by coordinating with internal teams and external auditors.• Assist the Controller with key accounting deliverables, projects, and ad hoc analysis.
Qualifications What You Bring• CPA designation required.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.• 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within retail, manufacturing, distribution, multi-entity, or high- growth environments.• Strong understanding of IFRS 16 lease accounting, fixed assets / PP&E, intercompany reconciliations, deferred revenue, and payroll accounting.• Experience working with ERP systems such as Sage, Oracle, or SAP.• Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical and reconciliation capabilities.• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
